Sent my signed letter on Friday and just received a confirmation about 10 minutes ago!

I haven't yet. I sent the letter the same day.

Thanks for this! Great resource.

I thought Hep B and MMR would be a given, but I called my old family doctor's office and they not only have no record of me getting the MMR vaccine, but only 1 out of the 3 Hep B shots. ?

Reading the doc, it looks like we will have to present titers for everything, regardless of immunization records. Am I reading that right?

Yes, thanks, @hsinyofu!

@Artemesiac that’s the way it sounds to me, too. Re: HepB and MMR... 1) I never had to get the HepB vaccine, and 2) I’m so old that my vaccination records from when I was a kid are in handwritten form!! LOL they’re totally not going to accept that as proof, so regardless of whether or not we have to present titers, it looks like I have a bunch of those as well as vaccines in my future. I may also have to get the TdaP. I had it in 2015 (when I was pregnant with my youngest), but UCLA doesn’t have the records regarding which brand they gave me, grr ? so it might be more cost effective to just get a booster.

I accepted the offer and  sent in the letter earlier today! Does anyone have a link to the facebook group?

Does anyone have any suggestions for "nice" areas to live around school temporarily as a student?

@sojuwu Last year I lived in Beverly Plaza Apartments. It's only a couple minutes from the school, and there's a shuttle stop nearby that takes you directly to school. There's also a grocery store that's right down the street, which is nice. The only thing is that it sometimes gets a little loud since a lot of college students live there, but I didn't think it was anything too bad.

Thanks for the recommendation!

Wow so I just spent about 2 hours reading this thread, I feel like I personally know you guys haha. I'm going to apply for fall 2021 as a transfer student! So what I'm understanding is a transfer student got accepted with a 9.48 over people who got 9.5's. Were the 9.5 people pre-nursing or second degree students? I read somewhere on here that it's based on a quota? Not sure what that is, assuming that's the type of applicant you are and I'm assuming they give priority to transfers and second degrees?

Nah, unless you are a military veteran, you'll be given an even chance just like the CSULB pre-nursing students. Quota is just a number that the BSN program designates to achieve the variability of the class they want. From a pure numbers perspective, it doesn't matter because the average applicant from the past 4 applicant seasons has a near 4.0 and a 90 reading/90 composite raw TEAS score, with sample size of around 250 to 800 students. A 90 reading/90 composite TEAS score puts the applicant at the 99 percentile for students taking the test. Anything lower than a 4.0 means you'll have to knock the TEAS score out of the water. I saw a user on last application season claim they got in with lower than 80% on the TEAS, but they had military experience, which is a +1 point. So in theory, if you have military service, you're almost guaranteed in with a much less competitive academic/test score. That's why I believe there may be a quota to cap that military number. But that is only my guess, only CSULB admissions knows and I'm not sure if they would even share it. CSU Bakersfield is more blunt with this, they just say they have 2 seats reserved for military members and they must have a minimum of 75% on the TEAS and 3.0 GPA. CSU Sacramento and many other programs also award points for military service or use it as a tie breaker.

My best advice for transfers is to not worry too much about the competition because unless you have military experience, you need to maintain a 4.0 GPA and score at the 99 percentile for TEAS just to be the average applicant. IF they use quota, it would only be used to restrict the number of military members.
