CSULB Spring 2020

Updated:   Published

Hello everyone!

I couldn't find a thread for the upcoming spring admission, so I thought I should start one. Who is applying to CSULB this upcoming semester for spring 2020? I've finished all my pre-requisites. I just need to take TEAS which I am taking in early June. I would love to hear from other applicants and current CSULB nursing students.

Hope to hear back from you all and good luck :)!

I’ll just respond to my own post. They finally updated the website and offered a sample of the VERY new and different format for the applications to SON (the official one will be available tomorrow). Good luck to everyone!

Thank you for letting us know. I just went on their website and it looks like they're making a lot of changes. Reading past threads I remember that people were able to call and ask about their points, the cut off, their status etc. but now they're saying they don't want us to call and they won't be releasing any information regarding our points, cut off or status. I was hoping they were going to update their pool stats for 2019.

Anyways.. good luck!! :) I'll start my application tomorrow or this weekend.

Seriously! I was shocked that they only included 2018 in the pool stats in the new handbook as if that’s the most recent information. I’m wondering if they’re choosing to no longer disclose that information. Also, they removed the sample application they JUST posted. The sample says that it will take us about 1 hour to complete. I’m going to see if the one I downloaded will let me upload here since they took it down: https://www.csulb.edu/sites/default/files/u52946/spring_2020_traditional_basic_bsn_application-sample_watermark.pdf

I honestly think they're no longer going to disclose that information.

Wow, 1 hour?! I guess we'll find out tomorrow. I also thought they were going to check our transcripts and pick the classes they needed without us having to put in that information because now I'm confused. I took 2 classes for English Composition and I'm not sure which one they're going to use. I just don't wanna put in the wrong information. I'll call them tomorrow to find out.

The application is up. Good luck everyone ?

Is it just me or did they not send you a confirmation email after you submitted your application?

Hi everyone!

Looks like the application is open!

I wanted to see if anyone else was in a similar situation as me. I took my communications class back in Spring of 2009. I see on the Application Information PDF that all non-science prerequisite courses expire within 10 years. It's a shame that this communications class would be the only thing holding me back. I've already completed all other non-science and natural science prerequisites. Is anyone else having to renew their prerequisites? Do you know if they will let me take this class and still apply for Spring 2020.

I sent them an email, so hopefully I'll hear back from them soon.

Hi, I noticed that is a new rule added for us. Luckily, when I read further down, the 10 years is applied to the year you send your application, not the year you’d be accepted for. Since you are applying in 2019–it should still be acceptable.

Hi @Nina85!

Thanks for responding to my post. I was reading the FAQs regarding the expiration of prereqs and I'm worried that in the example given, my Spring 2009 classes would still be expired. In their example, if you intend to apply for the Spring 2020 cohort, the earliest science prereq they will take is Summer 2014. This would mean that the earliest non-science prereq would be Summer 2009, which is just after my Spring 2009 prereq.

Sucks that they just added this. If other people are facing a similar issue, I'll be sure to circle back once they respond to my inquiry.

Hi smn90,

I'm in the same boat as you as far as the communications requirement. Thanks for bringing that to my attention, by the way. I had read through the FAQs previously, but I failed to take note of that little gem.

I took a public speaking class to fulfill that prerequisite back in Fall 2004, soooooo, lol. I'm definitely screwed if they are going to be strict with that one. I'd really appreciate if you could let us know what the nursing department tells you about the situation.

@.Chelsey

You got it! They haven't responded just yet, but I'll try calling in a little bit. I hope this one non-science prerequisite isn't going to hold us back on applying!

They take forever to respond. I had a question so I sent them an e-mail 4 days ago and still no response. I also tried calling them several times but nobody picked up the phone.

Oh, yeah they're probably inundated with emails and calls since the application just opened. Thanks for the heads up!
