Would anyone be interested if I created a Discord server for us to chat on? I could make it and post a link here (as long as that isn't against TOS for this site?). As far as I am aware, no one has started a Facebook page, and I think Discord would be conducive to our conversations about school, especially as time goes on and our questions become more diverse (re: specific classes and whatnot). Plus, to be honest, I personally am not a huge fan of Facebook. ? I know there might be a slight learning curve for some, but I think it would be a great platform for discussion. If at least a few people are interested, I'll go ahead and create it. A Facebook page could always also be created at a later time.

I am also a second bachelor's student. I called and was told the same thing as you: no decision yet, still "applicant" status. Trying my best to be patient but it's so difficult! Congrats to all the people who have received good news today!

I submitted my application on the 10th, so I wasn't concerned yet about the fact that I haven't received an e-mail from CSULB. Thanks for checking in with them and letting us know about the delayed response time.

Under the "BSN Program FAQ" here, it references sending in transcripts, so I know we will have to provide them at some point. My game plan is to wait and see what kind of information is contained in the e-mail that we are supposed to receive, and then go from there. As of now, I can't find any specific info on when transcripts are due or what format they should be sent in (mail/paper or electronic/PDF).

Well, unfortunately I can't account for transfer students, because I would assume that would place you in the undergraduate student category, correct? Second degree applicants are considered graduate students, so I don't know what differences (if any) there might be in the programs offered to undergraduates vs. graduates. Hopefully that makes sense.

Yes, I just submitted my application today under the "Nursing BS" program. Looking under the "Program Materials" information after you have selected the program you want to apply for, it seems that the "Nursing BS" program makes more sense to me than choosing the "Nursing BS - Registered Nurse" program. As I mentioned before, I think the "Nursing BS" program is for second Bachelor's degree applicants who are NOT RNs, and the "Nursing BS - Registered Nurse" program is for ADN graduates who have their RN license and are looking to obtain a BSN. That being said, I feel I should make the disclaimer that this is just my personal assumption on the matter. Sometimes I feel like just figuring out how to properly apply to a nursing program is part of the screening process. A secret aptitude test, perhaps? ??

I got an e-mail a few hours ago stating this issue should be resolved. After looking at the CalStateApply website again, it's my assumption that those who are pursuing a second Bachelor's degree in nursing should choose the "Nursing BS" program, and those who are already RNs and are looking to obtain a BSN should choose the "Nursing BS - Registered Nurse" program. That's just my guess, though. It was not specified to me in the e-mail. I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

I received a response e-mail from the nursing department informing me that the oral communication prerequisite DOES have an expiration date of 10 years. Disappointing, but c'est la vie.

Hey everyone, Just wanted to let you all know, if you happen to be a Second Bachelor's Degree Applicant, the Cal State Apply website is kinda confusing right now. Yesterday I logged on to check it out, and under the "Add a Program" section, I only saw "Nursing BS" and "Nursing BS - Registered Nurse" as possible programs to add. In the FAQ section of the nursing website under the instructions, it tells us that the degree objective should be "Graduate Nursing Basic Addl BS." So, I was confused and e-mailed the nursing department to ask about what program I should select. This was the response I got: Thank you for contacting the School of Nursing with your concerns. I have reached out to the Admissions Director to let him know of this discrepancy. I was able to see on my end that indeed Cal State Apply has both options under graduate programs. Please hold off on submitting your application until I am able to get an answer from him. Thank you for your patience while we try to resolve the issue. Hi smn90, I'm in the same boat as you as far as the communications requirement. Thanks for bringing that to my attention, by the way. I had read through the FAQs previously, but I failed to take note of that little gem. I took a public speaking class to fulfill that prerequisite back in Fall 2004, soooooo, lol. I'm definitely screwed if they are going to be strict with that one. I'd really appreciate if you could let us know what the nursing department tells you about the situation.
