thank you! :) Yes, I'm still considering CSULB because I'm already a student there and it's like 15 minutes away from my house and the hospitals where clinicals are held are even closer so it's so much more convenient!
Ah that's very true. Well good luck to ya!! May 2nd is coming up so you will know soon :)
Hi guys! Sorry too bother you all but I recently got accepted for UCI nursing and I've already been accepted to CSULB nursing. HOWEVER I'm completely torn between the two schools as I have to decide soon since our contracts for CSULB SON are due very soon.
I will be planning on living on campus and use financial aid/loans to pay for the tuition so money isn't my biggest issue right now. What is my issue is which program do you guys think will be better off for me considering passing the NCLEX and finding a job asap. I have done research on both CSULB and UCI and honestly, I love both. That is why I need your guys help in deciding which one.
Also since I'm planning on living on campus I would prefer the most social environment.
Please guys, if you have any insight I would GREATLY appreciate it. I didn't know where else to turn and I already spoke to my parents about it.
Thank you guys for your time! please help me decide if you can!!!

Yes, UCI is a UC compared to a CSU so it might look better on a resume for future employers but let's be real....we are going into the nursing major and they demand nurses every where. You might get a little more money coming from a UC than a CSU but the hospitals you work for will actually be a deciding factor. First off, you will be saving WAY MORE money attending a CSU than a UC. I don't know if the acceptance rate matters to you or not but it's actually harder to get into CSULB than UCI. CSULB is a larger school and more diverse than UCI is. If you attend UCI, be prepared to see a lot of Asians. As far as I know, if you go to CSULB, you might be able to sign a contract with Long Beach Memorial Hospital and they will pay a portion of your tuition if you work for them after you graduate for two years. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much! That was a lot of very informative advice and I greatly appreciate. I am still leaning towards CSULB because I have already started the health package and SIR'ED to the school but part of me still considers UCI because it was one of my initial dream schools. Also my parent are urging me to choose UCI because they believe it will be better for my resume in the future.
I actually did not know about getting some tuition paid off by LBMH which sounds awesome. I would enjoy the more diverse aspect as well since I'm loving on campus.
This is such a hard decision but thank you sooo much for your input. It really help shed some light.
Btw how is the health package going for ya?

Congrats on your acceptance to UCI!
I believe the contract with LBMH is only given to those that choose the trimester program :)

I haven't started since my doctors appointment is on the 5th. My background check through Castle Branch is already done though. :)
Believe me, I had the same issue picling between CSULA (my home school) and CSULB. 7 min. vs. 45 minute commute.
I ended up choosing the school I've always wanted to go to since senior year of HS which was CSULB. I hope I get into trimester though, only then it would be worth the commute.
