CSULB ADN to BSN Summer Step Up Program

Published

Does anyone know when CSULB usually notifies applicants for their Summer ADN to BSN Step Up Program? The application period closed 3/30 and have not heard anything yet.

U got into CSLB nursing program or step up?

Awesome. So you currently go to Cerritos and got into the step-up program at CSULB? Just to verify, getting into the step-up program does not automatically mean you're in their program to earn a BSN, is that correct? I know I did read on the brochure that you would still need to apply to the traditional program after you have completed the step-up program so basically, you're not guaranteed a spot in their program to earn a BSN. Am I understanding this correctly?

step up. no way is that gpa getting in the regular csulb nrsg program.

Hi bubups

Since you secured a spot in the step up program are you guaranteed into the traditional program after the summer courses are complete? I was hoping someone might be able to explain the step-up program to me. I sent an email to lady listed on the brochure and I have yet to hear back.

Thanks!

Hi í ½í±‹í ¼í¿¼

The step up program are for adn students so that they can get a head start for the RN to BSN(or ADN to BSN) program. Although it doesnt guarantee a spot in the RN to BSN program, the administer coordinator of the nursing program in CSULB told me that as long as we do well in our adn programs and also the step up program then step up students will have priority entry.

Thanks for your help! I scoured the CSULB website but couldn't find the estimated tuition for the classes to be taken in the Summers during the step-up program. Does anyone know the cost for the step-up program?

Hi all, this is an old thread and you all are probably graduated! How long was the step-up program at CSULB? I cannot find any info on how long this step-up program is. Compared to the RN-BSN that is 2 years, this step-up program is shorter, yes? I know CSUF and CSULA early start programs for ADN students allow the student to graduate with their BSN in 1 year. Was this also true for those who completed the step-up program at CSULB? Thank you!

This message is to Fm1015! I have been trying to message you directly but I am not allowed to, it may be because I am new to this site. I noticed you applied to the Nursing Program at LATTC. I have a few questions if you don’t mind. How long was the waitlist? I just got on the waitlist at the beginning of this month.

@BrittanyGn hey girl no worries! I get email notifications from this site LOL. I applied to LATTC May 2018 and they contacted me Feb 2020 for a spot in their Fall 2020 cohort. girl if u do the math, that was like 1 year and 8 months ish for me so practically 2 years wait.

I rejected that spot because I accepted Cypress college which I was also on their waitlist system! Luckily I got in for Jan 2020.

I don’t want you to get discouraged! Being on a waitlist is hard, but for me the wait time was fine since I worked, took classes and kept myself busy. I was super like SUPER consistent being so annoying following up on my application every 3 months with the schools I was waitlisted on. they give out an estimated start date and sometimes they tell you what number you are. depends on who is working. but hang in there girl. the wait wasn’t really that long now that I look back!! hopefully that answers some things!

@Fm1015 Thank you so much for getting back to me girl! How funny, I am applying to Cypress as well! If you don’t mind me asking, how long was the wait to get into Cypress? And yeah I don’t think I mind the waiting but I find my mind psyching myself out sometimes! Like: “What if they didn’t add my name to the waitlist?” Or “What if they forget to call me?” Haha! I’m sure it’s my nerves. But anyways.. CONGRATS!! Wait so you’re almost a year in the program at Cypress?

@BrittanyGn no problem! yeah I applied everywhere around socal!! like everywhere I was willing to commute to basically. My waitlist at cypress was also 1.5-2 years!! I applied with them october 2017, so earlier than LATTC. I think waitlists are averaged at 2 years honestly, due to students not resubmitting applications or straight up declining. and I totally get the whole psyching out thing. I would call and ask all the time what my status is and what to expect if chosen.

yes I'm almost a year in! feel free to DM me on my instagram @ matchanurse if u have other questions so I don't blow up this thread ?
