Anyone applying for fall 2013?

I saw recently that they changed something, but i cant exactly point out what it is. I think it might be the statistics prereq.

They also have the applications due earlier than last year

anyways, anyone for csula?

:)

Congratulations superfryk! I wonder how many spots are still open. This board and our Facebook group is pretty quiet haha.

ok- thanks to e_marie i was able to find the group on facebook. :) thanks a ton!

Hi, everyone!

Congrats to the people who've gotten in to CSULA & other institutions!

I'm wondering if there's anyone out there in a similar position as a friend and I are...

If I get into CSULA, I would be transferring from SFSU. I applied for the Basic Program, and I haven't received an acceptance, waitlist, OR rejection email or phone call or letter.... All I know is that my application to CSULA the school (not nursing) isn't finalized (according to admissions)... So I still don't know if I'll be accepted as a nursing major OR my secondary major...

If anyone can help or have any advice, let me know! Thanks :)

Hey luxue!

That sounds so frustrating.

If I was you I would just be calling the school and the department to see what the status is, but maybe you are already doing that...

Hi all, congratulations all those in ELMN Cohort 10. My name is Michelle and I'll be joining you guys too..

Does anyone know how strict their grade cut offs are? for example, if they said they wanted "B" for science classes but my class at UC Berkeley for anatomy was split into two classes for lecture and lab..and if I got a B+ and C should I even bother applying since they wanted at least a B in my science classes? also do they average my split lecture/lab grades?

Oh! also, the ELMSN program says that human nutrition is a prerequisite... how can I tell if the Nutritional Sciences 10 (introduction to human nutrition) at UC Berkeley qualifies as an equivalent? I tried using assist.org but it doesn't .... assist me in my question.

Eelimonadee- I know from experience that if your overall GPA isnt what it needs to be then you might have a chance if it was a long time ago and you have other compensating factors. if its recent work, that might not be so good for you. also- i think everyone in my class had a 4.0 for prereqs. i might be wrong? but its a very competitive program so if you have time. maybe retake?

You can list out all your lecture/lab grades if they are split. I had to do that for chem and some other core sciences taken at UCLA. I'm not sure exactly how it will be calculated, but all your grades will be considered overall. It will probably a good idea to retake your anatomy at a cc or online if you can. good luck!

Hey Everyone!

I know this thread was from last year, but if anyone would be willing to give me any advice about my application, I'd be grateful!

I know these programs are super competitive, and I guess was just wondering if anyone thinks I have even a remote shot!

Pre-Req GPA: 3.7... with Human Growth and development in progress

TEAS: Overall 97.3; Reading-97.6, Math-100, Science 97.9, English-96.7

Overall/Las 60 GPA: Both are right around 3.4 (Really nervous about this)

Other: CCE Volunteer at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach; CNA Certified, and also went on to get Acute Care CNA certified, but really limited work experience with it; Undergraduate research in a neuroimmunology lab, working on a pharmacological therapeutic for Alzheimer's disease (not exactly "healthcare" but semi-relevant?)

Does anyone have any advice, or maybe a realistic perspective that I am not competitive enough? I'm working on gaining for CNA experience, but I know my biggest downfall is my Overall GPA, and can't unfortunately raise that significantly....

Thanks for any advice!

^I realized I didn't say I was applying to the ABSN/ELMN program

I have been reading the thread by the Cohort 10 and I was wondering if anyone could tell us about their experience in CSULA so far in ABSN/ELMN program.
