  1. Hey guys, Quick question- if a 17 year old comes into the ER and is on drugs and begs you not to tell her dad- at what age do you keep this the patient's private personal info? or do you have to tell the parents? I know here in CA for pregnancy its 12. After that if they dont want you to tell you cant tell. but not sure about drugs. anyone know? for sure?? would appreciate solid references to confirm if you know. thanks!
  2. any idea what the 'offer' looks like?? i mean in terms of- do they tell us? give us something in writing? etc....? do we decide immediately? obviously this being a new grad position I have no idea what it might look like.
  3. I'm waiting on ED too :-/
  4. Mallysmama- congrats!!!! I too start tomorrow. Having just finished an ABSN I will say that I gave some thought as to what I wore. Yes- be comfy but! I would say that professors do notice somewhat. As they say- dress for the job you want. If you're going to wear jeans, wear with a nice top, etc.... look 'put together'. yes- they will notice 'excellence' as someone above pointed out- but they will also notice if you appear to be taking care of yourself AND some might look at dress as a sign of respect. I had class mates show up looking like they just rolled out of bed and really never felt it was a great idea personally.
  5. I dont want to lead you guys astray by giving you a list as I have no idea if you will have the same texts or something different or more updated. in general- the most crucial reading is going to be your assessment class. In the meantime: try to enjoy your freedom and make the most of it....
  6. Physical Examination and Health Assessment by Jarvis. I'd start memorizing it now....
  7. Good luck everyone.... be calm, be yourself, remember to breath!! Yes- they are most definitely looking to make a cohort who will work well together and from my experience this year they do a damned good job at it. That being said- they mix it up well - we are a variety of ages, races, backgrounds, etc... key ingredients: compassionate, hard working, flexible, responsible, friendly, focused, patient, good critical thinking skills. Looking forward to meeting those of you who get in on orientation day! Last note- for those who do get in and who happen to be parents; there are two of us in this last cohort and we are very available to offer support re: balancing school and parenting. Its hard but it CAN be done!
  8. its been great thus far. its a TON of work but I'm ever grateful to be here. this quarter (#3) I am finally starting to feel like a nurse and its a pretty wonderful feeling :)
  9. Cohort 10 here.... heard a rumor today that interviews would be starting Feb 10. good luck everyone!
  10. Eelimonadee- I know from experience that if your overall GPA isnt what it needs to be then you might have a chance if it was a long time ago and you have other compensating factors. if its recent work, that might not be so good for you. also- i think everyone in my class had a 4.0 for prereqs. i might be wrong? but its a very competitive program so if you have time. maybe retake?
  11. I have not received a rejection or acceptance, or any news at all yet either.
  12. While the money is no joke! I walked away from a similar deposit to another school when I got into CSULA. You look at the money you are saving in the long run versus a few hundred bucks and its a no-brainer..... Just my input for what it's worth. I think CSULB notifications came out this week so if people were holding out for a more inexpensive option you guys might see some movement again??? Good luck....
  13. Hi guys, i'm not sure if I saw- did you find out you were accepted by email? or snail mail? thanks!
  14. ok- thanks to e_marie i was able to find the group on facebook. :) thanks a ton!
