CSULA FALL 2020

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello. I wanted to create this forum for people who are applying to Cal State Los Angeles for Fall 2020. This is a place where we can discuss and compare statistics between us, as well as ask questions regarding the program. Thank you and good luck to you all!

Hey does anyone know what we do for the mask fitting requirement on CastleBranch? Also do we wait for permission numbers to be sent to enroll in classes?
I don’t have facebook so that’s why I’m asking on here

Hello I will be applying to CSULA soon and I was wondering if someone here can answer my question regarding the TEAS exam. When is the due date for us to submit our TEAS scores? Is it the same day our NursingCas application is due?

hi, that is correct. also note that it is advised to take your TEAS no later than december. if you have any other questions, feel free to contact me at @_jennynguo on ig since this page is rather inactive now.

Hi! My stats are:

Cumulative GPA: 3.94

Prerequisite: 3.94

TEAS: 79.3%

Over 100 volunteer hours at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital!

Although my TEAS score is not as competitive, I hope I can get in! Also I’m a pre nursing student at CSULA! Hoping for the best! Good luck to everyone!

Hi guys, I had a question about CSULA or just CSUs in general! Is overall/cumulative GPA (non-nursing or “core” prerequisites) important for nursing school or only the prerequisite GPA?   Like is my overall GPA considered in my application for both admissions & nursing school, or only admissions to the school itself? Thank you!

Hi, which hospital(s) have CSULA partnered with for clinicals? I think knowing this information could potentially help me choose which nursing school to go to. Thanks so much!

Hi!

The short answer is no one knows at the moment. Many clinical sites that were previously assigned have been pulled because of the impact of COVID. I know the school usually partners with Cedar Sinai, Adventist White Memorial, Rancho Los Amigos, Whittier, Kaiser and a few more; however, most of these clinical sites are cancelled until further notice.

Best of luck with your decision!

Do you mind sharing what your weekly schedule is like? And do you currently work and/or think that working weekends or a few days a week is doable?

My pleasure! I have classes Mon-Wed. My GE class is on Mon from 630pm-8pm. Tuesday is my looooooongest day bc we have about 3 classes back to back. On Tuesday I have Pathophysiology from 8am-1040, MedSurg from 305-550pm and then Pharmacology from 630pm-8pm. Wednesday is our clinical day. We're doing vaccines this semester for clinicals, but were at a hospital last semester. A typical clinical day for me has been from 7-4. It could be earlier or later, totally depends on your professor.

I don't currently work and I do not recommend working if you absolutely don't have to. Reason being is YOU WILL NEED YOUR WEEKENDS TO STUDY. Trust me. It's a A LOT of material and there isn't a lot of time during class to cover everything, so you'll need to do a lot of self study to catch up/ stay afloat. Your first semester won't be too bad, but the second semester is where it really gets real.

Yes you do. It'll be one day a week depending on the location and professor you're assigned.
