I posted this in the California forum, but I think it got lost so I'm posting it here!
Who here is applying for the CSULA nursing program for Fall 2014? What are your stats? Have you taken the TEAS exam yet? I'm excited!
I have not taken the TEAS yet, but have my date scheduled for Oct. 25th.
Anyone applying for the ELMN?
Where can I find info about the point system you're using? When I came across the ELMN program, all the information was for last year's application. Is/Was there a new one? When is the deadline for this year? And is the application ...seriously just a word doc (well pdf, but really)? And do you know if all prereqs must be complete by the time of application? I'm just lacking the critical thinking course.
This was the only info I could find, about last year:
http://www.calstatela.edu/academic/hhs/nursing/PDF/ELMN/ELMN_app_guidelines.pdf
"Any other prerequisites aside from the sciences that are NOT completed by the end of fall
must be discussed with the ELMN program coordinator."
And there probably isn't a point system since that many people do not apply. I think as long as you have A's and stuff and a strong essay, you should be fine.
Guys I just started pre reqs for nursing, I can't find a list of the pre requisite classes CSULA wants done. So far I'm planning on A&P 1/2 and microbio. I also have a bachelors in psychology which should cover some other pre requisite classes, as my GPA wasn't so great for my undergrad would it be wise to volunteer at a hospital as well? I'm working as an EMT right now also I just really want to get into CSU LA's program next year. Thanks guys and GL!
I just took the TEAS on 10/25 as well. Did anyone get their results yet?
Besdes the TEAS score still being unknown,
I have a prereq GPA 4.0 = 10 points
Overall gpa 4.0 = 5 points
2 years as an EMT = 3 points
TEAS READING = ?
TEAS ENGLISH = ?
I feel pretty confident that I got at least 8 points between the two TEAS sections, and that would put me at about 26 points total. But, I have to wait and see. If I did'n get at least 90% on all sections, I will retake the test.

I take a few minutes to calm my mind after each section and concentrate on the next part of the test. I review some items in my head so it is still fresh in my mind. Also try think after each section you only have a bit more to go.
