CSULA- ELMN 2012

I thought we should start a thread for CSULA ELMN summer 2012 applicants since applications are due next month and I'm interested in talking to other people that are applying. Does anyone know how they choose acceptance- is it based on the same point system as their BSN program? Also, does anyone know if they look at cumulative gpa or just the last 60 semester/90 quarter units? There's a few quarters my sophomore year where I slacked off on some classes, but my last 2 years have been much better, so obviously I would prefer that to be weighed more. CSULA seems to focus more on grades than other schools I plan on applying to as there didn't seem to be much room for volunteer experience, certifications, etc. outside of the essay so I'm a little nervous. Anyhoo, I would love to get to know other people who are also applying & any info from people who have already went through this process before would be awesome : )

I am also a second bachelor's student and haven't found any issues with CSU's. I will be attending CSULB, but also got into channel islands and Chico. I think you will find most admissions committees consider it a positive not a negative. It shows that you can follow through with a goal.

Can you calirify your status as BSN or EL-MSN student?

1. Is it easier for BSN than EL-MSN application?

2. Is BSN a three years program?

3. Deadlinesfor Spring term. Aug. 31 for University, and Sept. 15 for Nursing?

4. Your stats, GPA for overal undergraduate, GPA for science, GPA for Gen. Ed., TEAS?

Hi everyone!

I'm currently working on my app for ELMN and I am having a hard time making my personal statement only 2 pages double spaced. I have so much to say. I want to talk about my experiences in health but there just isn't enough space to do that and talk about why i want to be a nurse. Any suggestions??

Thanks for opening a thread! Does anyone know when you BS degree must be post marked by? I will be graduating in Spring 2012 but was not sure if I could still apply. I am trying to call the department and ask but they are not giving me a clear answer or not giving me a call back to answer my question. Need some help here!

Can you/ ANYONE please explain to me what was in the application? I have all my material gathered and intent to turn it in tomorrow. I applied a CSUDH MEPN program earlier this week. They actually held a required $50.00 workshop that explained what was expected as the application..... A CRAZY PORTFOLIO. Anyhow, is this supposed to be a portfolio or....I have no idea. Your input would be HELPFUL. I am obviously short on time.

And the website shows many different due dates for transcripts and CSUmentor.com.

I guess...what exactly is due by Jan 12th?

CSUmentor is due between January 23, 2012 and Monday, February 6, 2012

the application packet you submit should consist of the official application form that lists your degrees and prerequisite courses/grades. it should also contain two sets of transcripts (one for the school of nursing, the other for the univ. office of admissions), a personal essay/statement of purpose, and two letters of recommendation.

applying to the university via CSUmentor needs to be completed between jan 23 and feb 6th. and TEAS scores need to be submitted by feb. 6th.

Good luck to everyone who has gotten their applications together! I wish you all the best of luck. I am currently one of the ELMN students that started last June 2011. It's hard to believe that we will becoming RNs in just a matter of months, and subsequently NPs! The program is intense and I would highly recommend considering if you are able to keep up with the demands of the program or if you have obligations that would not permit you to complete the clinical, homework, ect.

Another important consideration is to consider what your interests are. For instance, are you interested in pediatric nurse practitioner or school nurse? Both of those options are currently on hold. Also, consider your financial situation because the program is currently offered through extended education which has very expensive fees for the first 12 months of the program.

Overall, I would highly recommend the program for advance practice. If you attend CSULA ELMN, you will get right into clinical and start working in the hospital within a few weeks of your first quarter! It is great experience and you get a LOT of patient contact.

Please let me know if you guys have any questions about program other than the topics I covered above!

Thank you so much, I figured it all out! I think I was just under so much pressure. Did you take your TEAS exam at CSULA? I missed the date....

Does anyone know about any other TEAS testing sites in the South Bay that are upcomming?
