CSULA ABSN Summer 2020

Published

Hi everyone! Applications open in November (and due in January) but thought I’d open up a forum now so we can share and keep each other updated!

This forum is for the CSULA’s Accelerated BSN program that’ll begin Summer 2020!

Anyone re-applying? This will be my first time applying! I have one more science pre-req + stats + TEAS left to go!

Hi, nursegoals2021!

I am also applying for the CSULA’s ABSN Summer 2020 program for the first time! I’m taking my last science pre-req + regular pre-req + TEAS (in November). Good luck with your classes and exam! ?

I am currently in the program (the new cohort just finished the first semester and finishing in exactly a year). Let me know if you have any questions ?

Hi everyone! @etchensketch hopefully we'll be in your shoes next year! How do you like your program/cohort? How was the application process/ interviews? ?

Cohort is awesome! Top 28 of hundreds! As long as you have competitive TEAS, prereq GPA (undergrad GPA doesn't have to be AS competitive), and clinical (could be volunteer) experience, that should set you apart! And a sound essay should land you an interview. Feel free to message me directly for more questions ;]

Hey everyone,

I was hoping to find out what kind of work or scores has gotten students into CSU LA's ABSN program and also if CSU LA will accept credits from a private institution because I completed Microbiology and the Critical Thinking requirement at my university.

My undergrad GPA in Biology was 3.66, last 60 units much higher 3.80

TEAS 93% % 99th percentile with ~1500 hours of working with children with serious illnesses and 100hrs in a more clinical setting (Cedars Sinai).

Would appreciate any information as to how credits may or may not be accepted by the program as this makes me nervous not knowing yet and what the cohort statistics were if those are available.

Thanks ya'll

Everyone's statistics are different. You can search past message boards for stats but in general, it's not something we post openly online. Your best bet is to email the director and ask her your specific question regarding credits. Hope that helps.

The application deadline for the 2020 Cohort just passed. Has anybody heard anything yet as far as interview invitations?

Looking back on my emails, I got the email invite to interview on Jan 31st for an interview in in mid February. Some from my cohort may have gotten an email earlier but most got them later. Hope that helps (I'm from the current cohort in the ABSN program).

I turned in my application a few days before the deadline and was offered an interview 1/13 for late January and early February.

@earlgreycake How did you get contacted? Was it through email or phone call? Congrats!
