Hi everyone!
I've been searching the internet for any forums relating to Cal State Fullerton's Accelerated Nursing program for Fall 2016! Has anyone else out there applied? If so I was just curious about total points (mine was 82/100 I believe), other schools in which people have applied, and wanted to make a thread for anyone else out there who wants to keep in touch regarding interview dates and what not.
Jm: Heh, well, I thought my score was competitive as well! But one can never be too careful, I suppose Especially if one tends not to interview well! It's a skill that is in progress, as I have had a lot going on this year (haven't we all? :)) good luck to you, your statistics sound strong!
If you care for my advice, have a backup plan just in case--though I'm sure you already do.
Thanks for taking that step and sharing with us, Ajimka. I seem to remember her saying that at interviews and thinking, "yikes." At this point crossing my fingers for some news by/after June 1st (so far!), when those accepted take further steps in finalizing their decisions. Other than CSULA (rejected) CSUF is my top choice, sigh.
Jayrow, how was the experience at CSULA? Was interview tough, were questions similar to CSUF? What about the writing assignment, do you have to do compose an essay or smth? I did not submit an application there yet and just took TEAS, 95% overall and, honestly, this is the school I'd prefer since they offer 15 month program with an option to continue as NP without having to reapply. Also CSULB is closer to me but my overall points are 9.25-9.30 and I've heard the cutoff is somewhere over 9.5 [emoji33] thanks.
Recent TEAS scores from other applicants are so impressive (how can I even compete with you guys, with scores like those?!). And I am NOT a fan of long, timed fill in bubble standardized tests. Even worse is if they are computerized
And to think...we may have to retake it when the new TEAS comes out?! I had a lot going on when I took mine, but I definitely studied hard, yet I only scored an 89, 90 math :/
I think they may have taken TEAS into account more than I assumed at CSULA, because even with my (what I assume) were very good letters of reference, clinical internship experience (one year), being a CNA, 4.0 in sciences (I'm uncertain of my undergrad GPA but it's something like 3.5-3.6), I did not get an interview
But I could suspect many factors, low TEAS included...Maybe it was because I didn't hand deliver my application hence it came later than some. Perhaps my advisement meeting at CSULA didn't go as well as I thought. Maybe I annoyed the nursing department with too many emails, lol, always a worry of mine!!
Wow, jayrow, your TEAS score is actually impressive, CSULA is concerned about the National percentile rank to be above 75% on each section. Do not feel saddened or overly worried, and if you think that your scores on certain sections may improve, then retake the whole test. I am not sure who is a fan out there of any kind of testing especially long ones, but nursing school I've heard is full of similar high pressure timed tests that are many times harder than TEAS. You guys with previous degrees in US are lucky that TEAS is the only exam you have to take, I have to re-take my TOEFL now because it is about to expire [emoji31]. Jayrow, your overall stats are good, maybe review your SOP letter (I was told CSULA pay very high attention to it) and TEAS and you should get in to a program you want, be calm and submit all docs early. Good luck!
