CSUF Accelered Nursing 2016

Published

Hi everyone!

I've been searching the internet for any forums relating to Cal State Fullerton's Accelerated Nursing program for Fall 2016! Has anyone else out there applied? If so I was just curious about total points (mine was 82/100 I believe), other schools in which people have applied, and wanted to make a thread for anyone else out there who wants to keep in touch regarding interview dates and what not.

I just got a very kindly-worded rejection email from CSULA. So, that's good to know. Probably literally the most polite rejection I have ever received, haha.

I want to start a FB group page for those who have been admitted. FB won't let me do so until I'm friends with at least one person who will be in the group. Would anyone be willing to PM me their fb link?

It seems that PM is still restricted for my account..:(

Yeah... mine is too hahah

Hi ck93, would you mind sharing why you didn't choose CSULA and are going for CSUF instead?

Hi misscnn, I am actually in the process of choosing between CSUF and CSULB. CSULA offers the MSN route as soon as I finish the absn portion. However, I do not want to move out to LA and have to live there for 5+ years. Also, I feel that I won't be 100% sure on which speciality I want to choose or if I even want to be a NP until I gain some experience through doing clinicals and work as an RN first. Even if I do decide on becoming a NP, CSULA only offers a few specialty options and I did not want to be limited when picking a specialty. With CSUF or CSULB, while I only come out with a BSN, I could always apply to a MSN program while working as an RN. Even if I don't get in the first time around, it's not the end of the world since I can reapply while I work as a RN. It was really hard letting go of CSULA's offer because it's such a desired program, but in the end, convenience of location and being 100% sure of my career path was more of a priority for me than jumping into a program simply for the "guaranteed" spot in their MSN program. Hope that helps!

Thank you for your insight ck93! It seems like a tough decesion. Both CSULB and CSUF have great programs. Best wishes :)

Thanks Bangle! Best of luck to you too :)

Keep in mind CSULB is a 2.5 year program vs 2 years at CSUF. And also cost of tuition, CSUF charges graduate fees. I'm kind of glad I got into CSUF instead of LB now because I'd rather be done a semester sooner.

Thanks CK93 and VW45 for both of your insights! They are very helpful. I hope to see both of you at CSUF.

Best of luck to everyone! I will be applying for next year. For the individuals accepted and wait-listed, would you mind sharing your total points for the application? I am sitting at 68, and I am curious to see how competitive my score may be. Thank you!

I'm not sure how they calculate bachelor's degree GPA, so it is my best estimate that my points range from 77-80, if I calculated correctly. However, for residency, my city is on the border of OC and another county. Most people think that it is in Orange County, but it technically falls into "other CA counties." While it's only about 12 miles away from CSUF, I would assume they counted it as "other counties," but I didn't ask. Best of luck.
