CSUF ABSN Fall 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello! I wanted to create a thread for those interested in/planning on applying to the CSUF ABSN Fall 2020 cohort. Applications open up in a couple of days! I just wanted to know how everyone is feeling about themselves and create a place where we can talk about the process.

Don't believe there's already a thread created, but if there is, please link the thread haha

For those that completed the online interview were the questions more general like the practice ones or more nurisng and experience related because I struggled with The Who would u have a meal with sample one

Hello, out of respect for those of us who have already taken it, I dont think it is fair to give anyone else an advantage on what questions or type of questions were asked. Good luck, we can all only try our best.

I was not used to this interview method at all. I honestly felt more pressure with a time limit on me. It feels very unnatural to not be talking to someone. I wish that it was a face-to-face interview...

I know. It's so impersonal and doesn't really excite me to go to a school that won't take the time to get to know their students. The human part is just as important as the academic.

LOL, let’s share questions and answers after the 5pm deadline!

Other schools have also adopted the online interview in place of an in-person one. I'm not sure if this is due to recent public health concerns or if this is an opportunity to allow more applicants to interview (I think they had more interviewees this year compared to previous years when they had in-person interviews). I think the online interview process was new to many, so don't feel alone! We all did our best and that's all we can do! ?

Questions were kinda difficult very specific and I feel like sometimes it’s so hard to come up with examples on the spot

I felt my questions were hard and one of them was so random. Can I share since it is the end of the interview period?

Hi there! I can share mines I hope we can.. but I don't remember them exactly.. the first one was hard... had to do with decision making and ethics.. 30 seconds are not enough to prepare for an answer.. and I agree with all comments that an online interview is so unnatural! I guess they did that because is more convenient for them and make things faster . Not sure..

Second question was about a time I advocated for some cause.. other one was about the role of a nurse and what most make me excited about.. and the last one about challenges.. but that had nothing to do with education..

Lets see what happens.. I don't feel terrible about.. but I am also don't feel confident enough. I am not confortable with a camera .. best of luck to all os us. I believe things happen for a reason, and we will get accepted when and where we supposed to. ❤?

Hey everyone,

I am currently in the 2019 ABSN cohort aka last year's fall cohort. Seems like they are doing things a lot differently this year especially with the addition of the online interview. I can see the pros and cons between the online and in-person interview. Hopefully, it wasn't too bad and you guys did great. I was a mess after my interview as well : ).

Just wanted to extend a hand and if you guys have any questions, feel free to ask either here or through DM. I know it's kind of the homestretch of the application process, but you probably have a lot on your mind as well haha.

Yah I had those exact four questions and I do get their purpose but I think someone can be resilient etc or display the characteristics they r looking for but maybe not have a great story to tell or think of it on the fly or articulate it well and that’s frustrating

Yes.. I agree.! Also you feel pressure by the 30 seconds preparation on the screen LOL

Yeah, I found the questions hard but my practice questions help. One of my practice question was about conflict and I use that answer for the ethical dilemma question. The second practice question asked about my favorite teacher which was so random. But I’m hearing that we all had different practice questions. Did we all get the same assessment questions? I had ethical dilemma, advocate, role of a nurse, and personal resilience

I have a question! For your cohort, did you guys have to resend your essays?
