Hello everyone,
Application period is officially open so I wanted to start a thread and see how everyone's feeling!
Hello everyone!
I am also apart of the upper range waitlist, waiting to hear back!!
Has anyone been accepted with a 3.5 GPA? If so what were your other stats (how many hours did you have - are you a local or native student - what was your TEAS score - are you a veteran)?
Thank you in advance! ?
Hello!
k don’t know about the waitlist.. but my GPA is 3.8, I got a 87% on my TEAS, I am not considered a native because it will be my second bachelors, I had around 300 hrs of volunteering at Kaiser, bilingual. And I got accepted to the program. I was very surprised when I got my admission offer because most of the people in this forum had great stats and getting denied.. however I think the personal statement had a big weight in their decision!!

thank you for the reply & congratulations! I haven’t seen anyone with a 3.5 get accepted on facebooks so I thought I’d ask here ?

Congratulation Lorena!! And thank you for an honest post. ❤️ I'm on the Lower one-third waitlist and honestly, I really don't know how they choose.
My GPA both science and cumulative is 4. I got 93% on my TEAS. I had 150 hours on kaiser volunteering and 230 hours in a community I did my volunteering. I'm bilingual as well as a resident in the bay area. I wish someone explain to me what's going on? I'm so disappointed.

OMG that is so weird! I have a 3.5 and 83 on TEAS, 880 hours, local and bilingual. I’m guessing they heavily relied on personal statements?

I don't know. I wrote my personal statement very strongly based my counselor said. Unfortunately, there is no explanation...

Hmm that might be true but I’m not really sure about the tiebreakers because I have two friends who got outstanding TEAS scores (way higher than mine) who got rejected. I feel like it’s the optional criteria such as taking the 4 science classes at East Bay itself that are helping some people. For personal statements, I heard that they only read those of the top 1/3 of the accepted people ? Yes good luck again!! ☺️
When you said, "1/3 of the accepted people" do you mean the top 1/3 that got the highest points collectively from GPA + TEAS + other optional criteria?
If yes, does that mean once they started reading personal statements from those 1/3, the points from GPA + TEAS + other optional criteria won't matter anymore and only the personal statement would?
And correct me if I'm wrong, there are 48 admission spots + 30 waitlist
From those 30 people on the waitlist, they would start filtering and ranking them through the tie-breaker categories 1. Science TEAS score 2. Overall GPA 3. Category residency. (I'm not sure how soon they utilize the tie-breaker system)
