Just wondering if there are any other CSU Stanislaus spring 2011Pre-Licensure BSN hopefuls out there? Waiting for mid-December.... I thought it would be neat to chat and get an idea of how many of us there might be... I have not found anyone yet...
average is 3000 a semester tuition... books are only real bad first semester... most after the first semester is 200$ id say. in three years your looking around 21,000 id say... I dont work part time because I just got an amazing scholarship...thank God. and my fiancee helps a lot... but a lot of the people in my class work part time, its totally do-able.. you just have to be good at managing your time.

Wow, that is good! I heard that there are lots of scholarships! How much can you get from the scholarship? That is will be very helpful.
Thanks you so much for all the information! I hope to see you very soon in the campus!
I got a scholarship that was amazingggg. its 15,000 a year for 3 years. its through DMC... i have to maintain a 3.5 and commit to them for every year i accept the scholarship. This year was the last time they were offering the scholarship...I got really lucky. There are a ton though, so apply away... its worth it. And im sure you will get in...so Im sure I will be seeing you! My name is Courtney by the way.
Hi Courtney! I totally recognize your name, I was following the other Stan State and MJC threads... I am a little confused about the point system, my gpa from classes a few years ago (like speech comm and english) are low, so my overall non-science gpa is really low, a 3.0. I have worked so hard the past few years though, Im a single mom and I work full time and take about 16-17 units a semester and have gotten all A's and B's in the past 3 semesters.. I am so dedicated to school and I really want this. Reading your guys posts on the other threads while you were waiting to get your letters and stuff really gave me a lot of hope. How is the program? Also, I was wondering about vaccinations and stuff, If i havent started any will it be too late if I do get in?

It does take into account your english/communication/speech.. stuff like that. There are two different sections for the gpa requirements though if I remember correctly... One for your sciences and one for your general ed. If your grades in the past few semesters are really good than that will help with your points. If you really want it, it'll happen. Just dont give up if you dont get in. A lot of people had applied numerous times before they got in.
The program is great, I'm really happy with it but I am for sure stressed out... Mainly because I have to maintain a high grade point average or I lose my scholarship.. The instructors you really get closest to are the ones you have for skills and they are amazing. You'll love the program, just be prepared for more reading than youd ever think possible :)
Well, either way I can't get wait to get started, even if it takes me a few tries to get in... That is awesome that you got the DMC scholarship! I have started looking at different scholarships in case I do get in, and I am trying to save up what I can for books and stuff. I figure they probably wont start mailing out letters until the promised date, Decemeber 15th, let us know if you hear otherwise... :-). By the way, what is your schedule like? It is pretty much a full-time thing?
They def arent sending out letters yet.. They wait till the day they state they will mail them out. Its actually not a full time thing really. Right now classes are Monday 8-4. but you have skills lab so really its like 8.5:30 or 6. Tuesday you dont have nursing classes but I take an extra class so I am considered a full time student. You also go to skills lab on Tuesday so it depends what your schedule is. Wednesday is 8-2, plus skills lab so I usually get home around 5. Other than that, thats it. But at the end of this month we have orientation into the hospital and mentor days, which means we follow around a nurse or doctor in the hospital to learn our way around so it'll start to get crazy. Plus finals and the amount of papers im trying to write right now is driving me nuts. Im sure you'll get in. This year someone in our class was number 50 on the waitlist and your class applying only has 100 people so Im sure you'll be in...

I think you'll be in no problem..especially with only 100 applicants, and the extra 17 points. Tuition is a killer. First semester was about 3000 plus 1000 for books...
