CSU Los Angeles School of Nursing (CSULA Fall 2011)

Published

How many here has applied for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at CSULA?

I know it is a little bit early to talk about this, but I just submitted all of my grades, TEAS scores (ATI sends them to CSULA SON for you), and notification of health care work experience (dental assistant) from an employer.

It has been a long and anxious wait till April/May for letters of acceptance to come in, so I hope this thread can help everyone who is dealing with the same anxiety and stress that we are all dealing with.

So If anyone would like to share their overall "points" score, or questions regarding pre-reqs TEAS etc. I would be alright to share all of you mine, and answer some questions that I might know.

Thanks and godspeed everyone!

Decisions have been released!!!

I just got a call from the School of Nursing this afternoon in regards to my acceptance for Fall 2011!

They've began calling everyone if your admitted and the package will be mailed to you.

Unsure if I'm going to attend CSULA...I keep envisioning that its a commuter school that is boring...

Woohoo congrats...it is a commuter school..but not boring ....its what you make it... =)

lots of organizations and activities...good luck on the decision

If you don't mind me asking...what were your points out of 31?... =)

@csulagrl

31/31

4.0 overall GPA

4.0 science GPA

100% TEAs score

Prior military, volunteering, and health care experience.

I'm 95% sure that I'm probably going to attend either UCLA or SDSU, so you could have my spot =-)

LOL...I am not in this pool...I am trying to get an idea of the points that are getting in.... =)

wow that is awesome.... 31/31

Don't lose hope guys if you didn't get a call today. I remember my friend telling me who is a CSULA nursing graduate. She was on the waiting list before she got it. So, we as a group who made through the 1st round still have a chance.

I also got a call back from the SoN telling me my acceptance for the fall 2011 quarter! :dancgrp: yay! Wish you guys the best of luck.

Congrats!...what were your points?

out of curiosity do they also send you an email?

did they happen to tell you how many people they will be accepting this year?

I believe their accepting anywhere from 45-90 a quarter, but please do not quote me on that due to the California budget cuts that have been implemented the past three years.

@csulagrl...

What types of organizations/activities are held on campus? Is there a decent greek life? How are the people?

I've heard numerous and variable amounts of reviews of CSULA. But, you are right, it is what you make of it. It's only about 5 minutes away from downtown L.A. so I wouldn't really think of the school as being boring at all, just a lack of school spirit and a residential campus

Yes alot of sororities& fraternities...they seem tobe legit. I have friends who are part of it and love it...Plenty of parties events and activities..... Something somewhere on campuse is always going on.... I used to live in the dorms on campus and it was pretty cool.... Alot of movie nights lectures activities....some parties...& it is right off the freeway very close to downtown....It is a nice school with friendly people and pretty decent staff/professors.....honestly I love being a Golden Eagle...but I have been there since I was a freshman and it is all I know....But I will say once ur adjusted and learn" the school" its begins to feel comfortable and at home....you should take a campus tour and get to feel the vibe... =)

They have sent another wave of acceptance letters at about 12pm today. She decided not to call anyone because she was too busy and such. So if you are accepted, expect a letter in the mail by tomorrow, or weds. If not, she will also call on thurs to verify if you got the letter or not.

I also found out, the way that they calculated both of my TEAS scores, I really didn't have a 26. I've been sitting only on a 23 the entire time!!!!!

So I'm just gonna make peace with it, and accept the fact that I may be waitlisted... I'm prepared for the worst, and I wish all of you added inspiration and the best of luck!!!!

P.S. I just met a girl who got in the program for fall 2010. she was on the waitlist for the entire summer until the school of nursing gave her a call proposing to be in their cohort just 2 weeks before classes started. Her STATS were only 19 points (3.33 pre req GPA, 3.67 overall, 8/12 TEAS, and 2 points volunteer)
