Is anyone applying for Spring 2015 Nursing Program 2015? I applied for Fall 2014 with 37 points and will be applying for Spring 2015 with 38 points. Does anyone have pointers for the application process? Has anyone gone to the limited entry workshop? I have been discouraged, and need some uplifting information.
Christina731 do you know if anybody had any trouble getting accepted if they were denied under the Course Equivalency Request (which I guess sets the actual bar & standard for any future students enrolling at CSN from that same institution as the requesting applicant is transferring specific classes from) but then gets Approved for Sub/Waiver for any of the science prereq's?
When submitting all my evaluations and sub waivers I was told that whatever class I am looking to transfer or get approved has to be approved thru that department so I would check with the CSN science department...you also must submit a copy of the course description and picture of the catalog from the school you took the course at with your evaluation request.
Workshop is MANDATORY... just seen it on my paper that I received from the advisor I had after I attended my Health Program Orientation.. It gotta be something new, I know the Fall 2014 cohort didn't have the Workshops as mandatory but you do if applying for Spring 2015 (All of the Limited Entry Programs). It says "Cannot apply without date" of when you attended the "Mandatory Limited Entry Application Workshop"

Sorry I wasn't aware that they changed that. It wasn't required when I applied.

Yes, a friend of mine had issues with her course equivalency and she was accepted as an alternate and ended up getting in 2 weeks before school started because they finally fixed it and someone else dropped out so she took their spot. It was a pain in the butt for her to deal with. Unfortunately I don't know much about the course equivalency other than her issues with it because I took all of my classes at CSN. Where did you take your prereqs?

Ya know you would think that since both are required before you can schedule your advisor appointment/submit your application that they would combine the orientation and the workshop into one meeting. You will soon find out that CSN likes to make everything 1000x more difficult than it needs to be! It's like they're trying to toughen us up by making us jump through hoops for everything! Gahhhh it's so frustrating! But I'm thankful to be in the program (and to be so close to finishing :) )

I had to do a sub/waiver for BIOL 189 since we do BIOL 190 here in Reno. I submitted it to the Nursing department for approval but that was only after my transcript evaluation was done to list BIOL 190 on my transfer credit report. after approved it was reflected on my what-if report which was emailed to me along with my paperwork showing my approval. I was told by the transcript evaluator (by email) that I did not need to send in an course equivalency with my credit evaluation request because I was coming from another Nevada school and all courses transfer equivalently when they are of the same title I.e. biol 223, biol 224. Also remember that online science courses or courses without labs aren't accept at any NV school for nursing admittance

I took it at a C.College in CA .. the anatomy (5credits) n physiology (4credits) where separate courses and not combined in I & II like CSN has it although the content obviously overlaped within the two..

Thank you.. just curious ..once the approved it did they change the "LELC" portion under the Equivalent Course" column in the.Transfer Credit Report or does it only show in your What-if report?

That's what the problem is! CSN makes it REALLY difficult if you took the class at a non NSHE institution. You would think that the 9 credits that you have would trump CSN's 8 credits for A&P....but I guess not! Sometimes I hate this school...

I definitely would recommend you emailing one of the advisors instead of calling, got a way quicker response that way. I would hope they would be able to work something out with you knowing you're in Reno and all
