CSN Spring 2011 RN Program

Good Afternoon All!

I thought it was about time to begin a thread for those applying for entry into the Spring 2011 RN Program at CSN. My big question is: Will you be applying to the full-time or part-time program and with how many points? It might also be nice to get to know some of our (hopefully) future classmates! I am applying to the Full-Time program with 29 points. Will that be enough? I sure hope so!

Good luck to everyone and I look forward to reading your replies!

Hi, does anyone have a recommendation for a nursing clipboard?

I got the one made by Prestige Medical. It's the same one they recommend and have in stock at La Isla, but I paid $14 online at Littmann Stethoscopes including Cardiology III, Classic II SE & Electronic, instead of $21 at the store.

what is a good stethoscope to buy? I know a littman is good, but there are so many different kinds. Anyone specific that is better.

From the research I've done, pretty much everyone is going with the Littmann Classic II SE. I bought it and it's awesome. SO much better than the cheap Prestige Medical steth I use to do vitals as a CNA. To not make it seem like a website promoter, see the link in my last post. They have the Classic II SE for $69.99 with free laser engraving. In-store prices range from $95-$110 for it.

Hi Jimmah555, where on the website did you find the clip board? Under which heading? Thanks!

Hi, I have a Select Littmann that was given to me new. I did go ahead and order the Classic II as well. I did not want to risk the Select not being good enough and having any problems in lab or clinicials. I ordered from the same place as Jimmah (Prestige Medical). It is expected here end of this week.

Click on "Nursing Accessories" on the right side, then click "Organizers" and it should be there. Here's the direct link just in case you can't find it:

Left side. Not the right side. How I screwed that up I'll never know.

that website is very helpful, thanks JImmah555

Could those of you that have taken Microbiology ( and I am sure most of you have) please give me your opinion. Do you think A&P was more difficult or Micro? Have any of you taken A&P in the summer or at NSC? Is it true that A&P is easier to pass at NSC? Thanks so much...

This is just my two cents...

I thought A&P I was more difficult than Micro and A&P II. I was also working full-time while I took A&P I, so this could be why I feel that way. I took it at CSN.

I had a really good lecture instructor for Micro. She made Microbiology interesting and relatively "easy." I also took Micro at CSN.

I took A&P II at NSC over the summer. It was the short session, I think 6 weeks? My instructor was a doctor and I liked her very much. She explained the material very well and was helpful when it came to studying for the exam. I have taken 5 classes at NSC and many more than that at CSN, and I feel like, overall, the instructors at NSC are more helpful.

Again, these are just my own opinions and experiences so take it for what it's worth. I'm sure other people may feel differently. Good luck! :)

I feel pretty much the same way as Cupcake, except I was not working. Actually, her whole post sounds very similar to my experiences, as I took A&P II over the summer at NSC as well. :) I thought A&P I was A LOT harder than both A&P II and Micro. I thought micro was by far the easiest of the three classes.
