The way that they have done it for 2st semester is like a lottery. They have groups of classes on the wall. It'll have a lecture, clinical and lab. 8 spots max per group (thats the max for clinical). You will have a little bit of time to look at the sections and you pick like 3 or 4. They will call your number and you give them your top choice. If that is taken give them the next choice, and so on. They will then tell you to register for your own pharm class. I know it's not possible for everyone but TRY to take it in class. The online teacher is...ugh.

Now, for the next semesters it's kind of the same thing. In the hall way of K-106 there is lists of groups of classes for each semester, similar to above. They will send you an email and tell you to pick your top 3 sections for each class, you email them all your info, and then they will eventually tell you your classes. It seems like a pain, but it keeps people from getting ALL the crappy classes, ya know? It has happened on more than one occasion. And sometimes they will have a day that you can switch classes if there are spots open.

What I did for 2-4 semester was take pics of each section they had and printed them and then my 2 friends and I went through each one and picked the ones that we all liked. We were lucky and got all of the same classes each semester!

Does anyone know if the part time track is nights only?

I am in the 4th semester of the extended track and 1st semester courses are the same for everyone. We drew numbers at orientation, but PT got to choose their schedule before FT, so our choices were very good. Beyond first semester, PT courses were posted separately from FT and we only had 2-4 different schedule choices per semster. Most (not all) clinicals are on Saturdays with online lecture and evening or Saturday labs. Hours of clinical are the same as FT, but summer is condensed (10 weeks), so the clinicals are about 12 hours.

For my first orientation they went through a bunch of info about your classes, immunizations, drug testing, textbooks, toolbox and I'm sure more that I can't remember. You will also be able to pick your classes and there will be people from the uniform place so you can buy/order your lovely white clinical uniform.

2nd orientation is a little more low-key. For my class, they went over the nursing 101 Angel website but since they are doing away with Angel, I'm not sure what they will do. They also give you info about ACE (first 3 weeks of clinical) and lab. After that, they send you to take your ATI test and then you're free to go. I'm pretty sure that was it. But things may change :)

Hi Christina, what exactly is the ATI test that we take at the 2nd orientation? Is it similar to the material on the TEAS test? I'm assuming its just a gauge of where we are, but I'd like to study and be prepared for it anyways. Thanks!!!

The ATI test at second orientation is a critical thinking test to see what level you are at now and I think you will take another one down the road to see if you improve. It is not like the TEAS and you do not have to study for it. It is not worth points, you just have to show up and take it. To be honest, half way through the test I wasn't even reading the questions because I develop an "I don't give a ----" attitude with standardized tests like this and I still scored like a 72%. It really doesn't matter and it won't affect your future in school as long as you show up and take it. If I were you I would worry more about getting all of your other requirements in order and don't stress about this :)

Ok, thanks! I got a bit nervous! So besides the immunizations and certifications and such, would you recommend studying what we learned in A&P and the dosage and calculations? I kept my books cause I figured they would come in handy over the summer. Im signed up for the toolbox class but I'd like to get a head start since I will have some free time. thanks!!

Yes! I never went over A&P before the program started and I find myself referring to my old books and notes all the time! And the math is very helpful to review as well.
