Hi,
It looks like I will have all of my prerequisites completed by end of May. I will apply for the RN program September 1, however are there any nursing classes I can take from May through December somewhere else? Online? That will transfer over to CSN?

Nope, once you have your pre requisites completed (and your teas) you will only take the nursing classes that are in the program and you can't take those unless you're accepted. If you want to get a head start on any additional courses required for a BSN you may want to inquire with those schools to see if you might need any other courses if you're interested in a BSN. I would suggest that you take a break once you're done with pre requisites. Once you're accepted, you will have ton of stuff to do and once program starts you probably won't have much time for anything especially if you work. It was a bit stressful for me because she I was accepted I worked more than full time so it was difficult to get all of the requirements done(vaccines, CPR, physical, supplies, uniforms...) and once the program started it was a bit nuts too.
So you are saying CSN wont accept nursing credits from other schools? I found a Nursing Pharmacology course in Oklahoma I could take online and replace NURS 125. I really don't want to sit out the next 7 months almost and do nothing while I wait on CSN. I look at it costing me 6 months salary.
Does anyone else know of a work around to take Nursing 101 for 6 credits elsewhere?

No, I didn't say that CSN won't accept nursing credits from other schools. What I said was CSN does not allow anyone to take their core nursing classes unless you are accepted into their program. I have never met anyone who has taken a nursing course elsewhere and and transferred it to CSN. I would inquire with the school; it may be able to be done on a case by case basis but I seriously doubt that any program will allow you to take nursing 101 without acceptance. At CSN, nursing 101 has a clinical component that you can't just take to get it out of the way, you have to have be accepted in order to take it. Also, each school has a different curriculum for each course so XYZ school's 101 curriculum may not match CSN's and you could be wasting your time even more. Nursing 101 is not like the typical 101 course in other majors that you can just take for the heck of it to work around another school's system. It requires time because it really is a difficult course that is the foundation of all future nursing courses. Prerequisites cannot compare to the type of course that nursing 101 is. My advice is to just be patient, you will start your nursing courses when the time is right. Don't try to change the course sequence because the courses build upon each other.
Hi and thanks for the feedback. CSN advised that I may apply elsewhere and transfer the classes over. It seems that UNLV is accepting applicants by the July 1 deadline for the Fall Semester which I would take Pharmacology and Nursing 305 (their version of Nursing 101) as a 3 and 8 credit hour course. I would transfer these to CSN and my first semester will be completed and on pace to Finish Fall of 2015. I am emailing the course description now to CSN and hopefully will have this as smooth as possible.
It looks like I need to take HSC 100 and PSC 100 first at UNLV which there is time over the summer.
Ok I'm glad you got some feedback from them. Now is there a chance that you can start at UNLV that quickly?
I don't see why not. The only thing that is a little scary is that UNLV requires the HESI A2 test which covers Anatomy and Physiology which I took about 6 year ago. 2 Attempts are allowed to score a 75% or higher yikes!

Hello!
Has anyone taken Bio 189 in the summer? If so, were you able to take other classes as well and still pass bio? I know it's a tough class but I also wanted to take English online.

I took 189 over the summer last year. It was hard because I hadn't had any science classes in over 10 years but if you graduated not too long ago it shouldn't be too bad. I got an A but didn't take any other classes. My friend took 189 with me as well as psychology and math 120 and got A's in everything but had no free time and she studies until she cries SO keep that in mind lol.

I took BIOL189 in summer, while working FT. It was hard, but I earned an A (barely). I also hadn't taken a science course in about 8 years. My suggestion...don't take the lab that starts 10 minutes after the lecture ends. Give yourself more prep time before the lab.
The last time i took a science course was 8 years ago so ill just stick with bio and english this summer lol were you able to take bio 223 and 251 in the fall? or did you have to wait til spring because of grade posting and class availability?
I'm just finishing 223 and 251 so I had to wait.
