U.S.A. Nevada

Hey everyone I just wanted to start a thread for fall applicants. I dropped off my application today ♡♡♡♡ anyone else applying?

Specializes in Med/Surg, IMC, ICU.

Congratulations to all! I'll see you around. Enjoy the summer before you start the program!

Thank you and if you have any tips on how to save money buying books and whatnot please do share

I've been freaking out about books too. They are basically more than tuition! Does anyone know if the books tend to change each semester or do they stay the same more of less, just change to different editions? I would love to get a head start this summer on reading..

Books usually stay the same. The editions may change. Don't get too ahead! It's important to enjoy your time before the program. Trust me. When summer begins it's gonna be a little bit before I think about school again. My brain needs a break.

I received my call yesterday as well! Looking forward to meeting you all!

Agree. I thought reading over break would be a good idea and I'm glad I didn't. Definitely enjoy your freedom. Plus nothing will make sense now until you're actually in there learning and doing it. If you absolutely must do something I'd suggest learning how to take blood pressure if you don't already know how to and getting used to your stethoscope. Otherwise just get your shots done, STAY ORGANIZED and enjoy your summer!! You'll thank me later haha.

Does your class have a facebook page you can add me to? I have questions about what other moms did for daycare and if anyone is selling books :) Thanks

Take the toolbox course, but otherwise...enjoy your summer! If you're working, try to pick up a few extra shifts now...while you can. If you plan to spend $2000-$2500 per semester, that would be enough to cover books, tuition, and supplies. It's possible to spend less...if you have time to shop around.

I'm probably going to have to take a student loan out or apply for scholarships and grants I wasn't approved for financial aid because my husband made too much last year but of course he's laid off this year. I have a 2 year old daughter to that I'm going to need to put in preschool. Did any of the students take nursing 101 lecture and lab in one day? I know that's a lot but I don't want to pay for too many days of preschool.

I don't know of anyone specifically who took lab & lecture in the same day, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. I highly recommend getting to know your classmates. If someone else is in the same boat, they might be willing to work something out that saves you both some $...you watch their child while they go to class and they'll watch yours while you go to class.

Also do you know when we pick out our classes and when can I start buying books used if you have any special sites or whatever please let us know. Thank you so much
