CSN Fall 2015 - Discussion area for our cohort Welcome!!

Hi all! I've been reading for a while now and thought I should join so I'm not a lurker :) I'm in as an alternate with 15 points because I'm currently finishing up my 224/251. Hoping to have a spot open up but if not I'll be trying for Spring 2016. Congratulations to everyone accepted!

Echoing what Belli3 said--I can only find the CSN nursing Facebook group for Jan 2015 students. Did someone start a group for Fall 2015? Or are we crashing that Jan '15 group? Thanks in advance for the help.

Hey everyone, I thought that since I've been following the blog for months I should join in since I was also accepted! Figured we should get acquainted since we'll be spending a lot of time together over the next 2 years!

The math test was graded. Everyone that passed the test given at the orientation did not have to take it again. If you did not pass it you still had 2 more tries.

There's a test given at orientation??? What does the material consist of? Does anybody know?

Yes. The test consists of nursing related math. So lots of knowledge about drip rates, converting sizes (like ml to oz or something like that), as well as other things. You get a BASIC calculator to use, and that's it. I HIGHLY recommend the Toolbox class this summer. I would've had no idea how to do any of the test without that class.

And it still wasn't that easy.

and what if you don't pass it? When do you get to retake it?

I don't know. But I do know there's a major test around the third week of NURS 101. Retakes are given a week after that.

hello everyone,my comment is differet.im preparing to take the nclex sometime later in the year after i get my cgfns report sent to navada where im hoping to relocate an RN.i would appreciate any information you guys can help me with.

There was nothing on there about drip rates. It is all dimensional analysis stuff that you use in first semester. The retake is the third week of school i think. Take that toolbox class, she will teach you all of it. If I had not taken that class, I never would have passed that test. Enroll in that class now because at your first orientation they will tell you about the class and by the time I got home around 4 pm all of them were filled up and I was very glad I had already enrolled in it before orientation. You guys have an advantage here because you know about it.

Oh and so you guys arent freaking out, the test isnt at the first orientation its at the very last orientation right before the semester starts.

Don't forget to go in tomorrow.
