CSN Fall 2009 Full-Time RN Applicants

U.S.A. Nevada

Just wondering how many are out there applying for the Fall 09 program. How many points are you applying with? This will be my second time applying; last semester I applied, but missed the cut off by 2 points. Best of luck to everyone!

I think what the rule of thumb is that they take students who have completed all the prereqs and the teas. Then if more spaces are available they take the highest score and the rest who have that specific number of points get in. For example...if you have 27 points and you have the highest points without micro you will get in along with the people who also have 27 points. You really have to be on your toes. You have to make sure you schedule your TEAS way early and if you can't take it at CSN take it at Nevada State and transfer your score. Make sure you schedule your meetings with an advisor from Charleston or Cheyenne and follow through with everything. It makes no difference how many applicants there are. They have to allow room for people who are reinstating into the program. Its competitive and time consuming! Just keep up with the fight and don't give up!

1 more week to go till the phone calls go out. Good luck everyone hopefully every completed application will get accepted.

a few more days. anyone knows the exact date they will be calling?

I spoke to the lady in the office...(you all know who I am talking about I hope) and she said that they were going to make calls from Monday - Thursday because when they gave out the exact date last time, people were calling them and it got a little crazy. As soon as anyone hears anything...start a new post and let us know!!!!

Good Luck Everyone! We will all have to stick together!!!

Hi Everyone- I found this page in error, however, it benefited me to do so.... I applied and was called for an interview at the end of Feb. and have been worried about not getting accepted. I am glad to here that there are still more student waiting for a response.. Question can someone explain the whole thing about points... I am a transfer student and never hread the school mention it...

Here is some information to all of you who think it impossible to get in without all the points.

I applied for the fall semester 09 with only 17 points.

I scheduled my TEAS test in October just in case I didn't pass it and had to repeat it.

I took it in October and passed it the first time around because I was not under pressure as I knew I could take it again before the spring on 2010 deadline. The TEAS test can only be taken at CSN every six months, but the results are good for 5 years.

I think there were 3 of us taking the test that day. It was not difficult to schedule, I paid the week before and took the test on a saturday.

I have just completed my 224 and 251 final exams.

But for the grace of God, I would not be in the fall of 2009 program.

NEVER LET ANYONE TELL YOU NOT TO APPLY! APPLY AS SOON AS YOUR PRE-REQUS ARE COMPLETE. Like said earlier, it is free to apply! HAVE FAITH AND BELIEVE!

Yes,,,, Like Mia said above. Apply as soon as you can. Do not listen to the Health Advisor if I listened to her I would not of applied until Spring. I did anyway and have been accepted with 12 points. Thats right folks 12. I just finished 224 and 251 and now I am 100% general ed complete and starting Nursing school in the fall not spring like the health advisor said.

Some good advice that was given to me by my fiance and the limited entry lady " You can not apply and it's a guaranteed No, or you can apply and you might get IN even if you don't you can reapply" sounded like good advice to me. I am now a nursing student.

Hope this helps all of my future RN classmates

Those getting ready to apply though also need to keep in mind Fall 09 had much less number of applicants than normal because not many people have had the chance to take the TEAS yet. I applied for spring 09 (and was accepted) which was the last time the NLN could be used for application and the lowest number of points accepted was around 26 or 27. So yes many people were accepted into the fall with low number of points but I do believe as more people take the TEAS that it's going to get more competitive and need more points to get in.

But as the others say. It does not hurt to apply even if you feel you don't have a chance, you may just get lucky!

Actually they accepted less for this fall semester because of plans on the part of first semester instructors - they will be changing some of the class materials. Also, don't try to get in and expect to finish those extra prereqs as corequisites - this might be a community college program, but it is not easy. Trying to do prereqs, NS classes and say, ooh work, does not work well. Being fully prepared for your classes is really important. Just finished my first year at CSN - good luck to all of you.
