NURC 101 is the standard STNA class, just offered by CSCC. It is VERY BASIC. The academic book-work piece is very straight forward, if you've been paying any attention at all you know a lot of it already.
At the end of it, you will take the state certification test, which consists of a written portion and a skills portion.
Don't stress about this class. NURC 102 is much more difficult.
CSCC that I am speaking of is Columbus State Community College. So is Nurc 101 the backround info and then NURC 102 the actual hands-on?
No, Nurc 101 is hands on. You will learn a grouping of skills and then go for 16 hours to a nursing home.
Nurc 102 is mostly sterile technique. It is all in lab, no clinical.
It's really not too bad. You have to go to class - it's mandatory [for Nurc 102, too]. So if you go to class and pay attention, do your homework - also easy, straight out of the book, you really should be fine. Nurc 102 wasn't bad either, just a little more stressful knowing that sterile technique can make or break you. I took them both - in seperate quarters, but in the condensed 5 week course both times, and it wasn't that bad. Be on there to schedule at 12:01am, because they fill up fast.
Good Luck!
I thought 102 was easier because the material was applicable. NURC 101 is BOOOOOORING. I either slept through lecture or did other homework. Take the hybrid version if you don't plan to work as a STNA in LTC. It teaches you how to work in LTC. The clinicals/class sucked, but it is an easy A. Finished the class with a 100%. NURC 102 is more work, but still not hard to earn an A and interesting because it relates to hospital work.
The only thing with your scheduling is the time you are in class. I devoted 0 time outside of class to NURC 101.

Is there anyone planning on taking this class during summer quarter?
Also, if anyone has recently completed it, how is the course? Is it overwhelming? Is it more book stuff than hands on or visaversa?
Thanks in advance :)
