You can't decide like that. Each province will make their own determination based on what YOU submit to them. Also just because a province doesn't require it doesn't mean you can find a job and employer willing to assist with PR or work permit. Lately jobs are hard for Canadians or people already in Canada and they will come first
yes. silverdragon is right. u have to prove ur competency is at par. nonetheless my experience is diferrent.
it also matters what province you applied for. AB and SK as well BC is difficult coz it will be months before you hear correspondence from them and the tuition for the classess are high too. try other provinces coz some are very accomodating.
my wife and i are classmates since 1st day of nursing school. we worked at the same hospital and we arrived in canada at the same time. but i was asked to take the sec and she was given eligility without having to do sec. she took the crne rightaway and shes a nurse now at a local hospital. my fate is different as i will ultimately have to take classess.
They say sec is a way of assessing ur competency... but NOBODY passed the SEC without having to take classes. BUT, im grateful for the opportunity given to us.
What the others said are all true. There are Filipino nurses made eligible to take the CRNE without doing the SEC, and there are those who were required to do it, others were even asked to take up classes for years.
Take our case for example, I was made eligible by CNO in Ontario whilst my classmate who applied 1 year ahead of us was asked to study in school for 3 years. That's not even a bridging class, it's like she was asked to go back to school again and start from the scratch. The only differences in our case that I could think of is our years of experience, the country where I have obtained my nursing experience, and the University where we went to in college for our first degree (we are both second coursers).

Hi! I'm wondering if there's any RN from the Philippines that was just able to sit for the CRNE after being assessed by the College of Nursing without having to take a course or the SEC assessment?
