CRNE 7th october

World Canada CRNE

Published

Hello,

I'm new to this site but am finding it really useful! I'm canadian but did my nursing degree in the UK, and I currently practicing in England. I'm due to sit the CRNE on the 7th October and have read some scary posts on its level of difficulty. I have the study guides and will continue to study for the next 8 weeks until I fly over to toronto to sit it. I'm extremely nervous....anybody got any further pointers for me????

I can't wait for my family to start our life in Canada pending me passing this exam (so no pressure Eh!)......and a new job in toronto would be great!!!!!

Good luck to all of those that are sitting it the same day as me!:nurse:

Try amazon. I'm not sure how much they charge for shipping. A British ex colleague gave me her CRNE prep Guide Book last February after she sat the exam here in Toronto. So I am very lucky.

I have a huge problem accessing the RNA's version of the prep guide......yes I can purchase it online from their bookstore....but the charge $240 to ship it to England where i live at present, and i just can't afford that much!!!!

anyone got any Ideas of how i can access it another way????

I've tried to get a copy on ebay....but nothing out there!!!!!!!

I'm working my way nicely through the Lippincott's and doing well with the questions....but i need further reinforcement i think!!!!!

8 weeks from now.....we'll be waiting for results......:banghead:

Hi, if you try the Amazon website just make sure that you're getting the updated version. I had a look right now and they have the 2000 one as first option (?) all of the other books are updated but I didn't see the new version of the CNA guide there.:twocents:

Hey petgroomer. Since I have completed reading the CRNE prep guide 4th edition, is there no point in getting the older version? I want to try and practice more test to get used to answering questions. Also, I've decided to get the Mosby's. Which one is better, Mosby's Comprehensive Review or the Mosby's Prep Guide? Any suggestions?

Hi Sheng, just coming back from Lippincott, lol. Sure I see little point in getting the 2000 CNA guide. I'll buy it from the local hospital library, they have the updated version.

I have the Mosby Comprehensive Review, but probably the Guide would be better. I bought the review because I gave away my school notes and needed some "nursing knowledge brush up".

I don't know if other members are finding the Lippincott questions a bit too easy; I can't wait to get my hands on the CNA book. Not that I mind having encouraging results when studying, but having a false sense of being prepared could be very dangerous. Any feedback from other nurses using Lippinc. would be appreciated. Thanks.

Read the approximately 2 dozen responses to similar requests on this forum. In fact, there are several responses before your post and at least two after it.

Hello to everyone,I am a Nurse educted in the Philippines. I already have my work permit and I will be going to Nova scotia soon to work as a GN. I started this thread because I will be sitting on CRNE soon. I would like to share tips on how to review and what is the rigth books to read. this will be helpfull for me and to those IEN's like me. good luck to all.

Do I need to start from the basics like funda ,Ms etc....or should I start reading Prep guide?

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Merged with existing Oct 09 CRNE thread as topics very similar

Also suggest you have a search as there are many threads discussing CRNE and what study material to use

Maybe you should do cost/benefit analysis of using of a study guide that is developed by the canadian nurses association vs going without, it is less expensive to do everything you can to maximize your chances of passing the exam the first time around. Think about the big picture.

Hi vincnet777. When are you coming over to NS and when are you writing the exam? Reading from previous threads here, most suggested the CRNE Prep Guide 4th edition. Some suggested the Mosby or Lippincott. When you think you have studied enough, try the online CRNE Readiness Test on the CNA website. It's probably around $40 or so. I don't think you need to go back to basics like reading Fundamentals of Nursing, Anatomy, or Med Surg. Once you've gone through the Prep Guide, you will find the questions are more on therapeutic nurse-client relationship and pyschosocial. Good luck!

sheng... thank you very much, around mid september I'll be in nova scotia. well I guess I better start reviewing. thnaks everyone.
