I am NOT trying to stir up any controversy here, but i was wondering if any theatre nurses noticed any differences between CRNA's and MDA's working style, attitude, behaviouir etc.
Any comments??

You all don't have CRNAs in England, right? Correct me if I'm wrong. But how do you know MDAs are better if you're in England? Just wondering.

I think it is wrong to expect non-biased answers to your questions. There are variables in nurses, surgeons and anesthesia people. Generalizations are not very useful. When looking at an anesthesia professional, what is important includes:
1. How vigilant are they? Do they watch the patient, the monitors, the surgery or are they on the phone/computer/out of the room, reading a newspaper etc.?
2. Are they organized in setting up equipment and supplies, in evaluating the patient, in performing the technical skills required; or are they sloppy, disorganized or careless?
3. Are they possess current knowledge of anesthesia techniques, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and surgery?
4. Are they warm and compassionate to the patients and staff, or are they uncaring and arrogant?
5. Are they professional in demeanor and style or do they constantly talk about money, or have inappropriate and crude comments in the operating room.
Neither a medical degree or a nursing background is a guarantee to good practice or a caring individual.

As Anesthesia Coordinator in a large private group, I can tell you that there are a few of my colleagues that I would not let anesthetize me or a loved one, and NONE of them are the CRNA's.
I have seen things that make you go ARGH...without getting into details on a public board, suffice it to say that not ALL M.D.'s are worth the wage they bring home.
