CRNA University of Miami starting January 2019

Hello everyone,

I have started the application process for the BSN to DNP Anesthesia Track program at University of Miami that will start January 2019. It would be nice to know who else is applying to compare information, help one another, and start getting to know our classmates. Feel free to comment! :)

I suspect they interview 90 to 120 candidates for interview. Highly Qualified, Moderately Qualified, Minimum Qualified, But Interviewable.

They select 30 candidates for the program @ UM per year.

Possibly even 35 I have heard... we will have to wait and see!

Hi NurseRJ,

They do have the capacity to take a 50-70 class size. However, I don't think that will be the case. If they exceed the 30 student quota they will take get 40-45. No more.

This is from the UM website: " How many applicants are admitted each year?

The BSN- DNP nurse anesthesia track was successfully implemented in January 2014. As the program continues to grow, a maximum number of 30 students will be accepted each year into the program to maintain the high educational standards set for our graduates."

holymoly ... 30/90->30/120... meaning 25-30% chances to get accepted. :/

You shouldn't look at it like that. They look at the whole candidate not just grades. Hopefully you have a compelling story that distinguishes you from the other candidates. Your personal statement is critical in that regard. It not about numbers , it about selecting people that will bring something to the program and after help the school's prestige grow positively.

I havent heard anything yet.I submitted my application 4 days ago. I probably suspect I will hear a yeah or naye for an interview in march.

Excellent, thanks for the info! It will be good for those that are accepted as they will get more attention.

I did not know they will be starting interviews this week. Nobody here seems to have received a call yet, hopefully we will hear something soon.
