CRNA School

Nursing Students SRNA

Hello all, I'm moving forward to apply to CRNA school for Fall 2016 admission. At the end of this year I will have over 2 years of ICU experience, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and ECMO. My undergraduate GPA is lower then what I would like it to be (3.12) and I am currently studying to take the GRE in July. I'm worried about my undergraduate GPA being low but I also have good ICU experience and core certifications. Is there any advice I could get from someone who has been in the same situation? Also, any suggestions on how to make myself a CRNA applicant would be so helpful!

Thank you :)

Hello,

We moved your thread to the SRNA forum where you will receive replies. Good luck.

Specializes in CVICU.

Depending where you are applying I might take a few classes and get good grades. My hospital has a CRNA school and they didn't even look at applications with less than a 3.7 this year.

I don't see CCRN mentioned. If you don't have it, take it.

Do very well on your GRE. Take some graduate level classes and do very well (get As).

Do you participate in any unit or hospital committees? You should.

You have to find ways to make up for your lower GPA.

Your stats look like mine. I had CCRN and took 2 grad courses. If you retook a science or two and get As, that should be work as well. I applied to 6 programs to give myself a better chance. I got an interview for all schools and once you get the interview, it's really up to you whether you get in or not. The interview is major. After my first two rejections, I got so desperate that I prepared for hours and sold the crap out of myself at my 3rd interview. I'm sure I got in over people with 4.0's because I blew them away. Getting in is hard work and staying in is even harder but it's so worth it! Good luck!
