CRNA and Military Service

Published

I would like to ask some of the CRNAs that frequent this website as to their opinion and perception of Military service. It seems that for some reason the military as a whole is perceived by some CRNAs as less than desirable. please feel free to bring up any info you would like to share or any issues you may want to Gripe about.

I am USAF CRNA. What aspect(s) of the military do some of these CRNAs find less than desirable? Military CRNAs are considered some of the top trained CRNAs in the country.

No, what I'm referring to is that civilian CRNAs tend to not look into Military CRNA positions favorably.. and I was asking those who think that.. what there reasons are!

I am not a crna, but plan on applying to crna school soon. Ive been thinking a lot about serving in the military once I finish school. I love the thought of providing anesthesia to fellow soldiers who would probably need you more than anybody you would serve as a civilian crna. The only reason I would be reluctant to sign up is missing so much time with my family. Being deployed for half of a year every 18 months would be hard, especially after already sacrificing so much time with my family.

Totally agree... Military trained medics, nurses, PAs, CRNAs, are the best! My DH is a retired military physician so I experienced a great life.
