Applying to Barry University Nurse Anesthesia Program for May 2020 cohort!! My GPA 3.89, ACLS/BLS/CCRN certified, 4 years of medical ICU experience.
Studying to take the GRE in May!
I am so nervous to apply. I am not good at standardized test.
What are other ppl stats? Do you think I'll get an interview.
Hi Everyone!
I am currently in the process of applying to Barry for the May 2020 cohort but I feel like I’m so behind!
Im taking my GRE next week and CCRN in September. I was planning on submitting my application in September but I’ve been reading that some people submitted the application pending some requirements? Just wanted to double check ?
I have worked in PICU since March 2018 prior to that I was in the ER.
My BSN GPA was a 3.9 and undergrad GPA was a 3.86. However, I am just dreading this GRE ?
I’m also taking a chemistry lab in August and the online chemistry lecture they offer that starts in August as well!
Trying not to freak out but of course freaking out! Any tips?
Thank you in advance and good luck to everyone on their interviews!!
@MHARNP Thank you for all the useful info! Did you have to use nursingcas to apply as well? If yes, how do you submit your app incomplete? NursingCAS doesn’t allow you to submit without everything being complete, or you can just tell it “i am not submitting anything for this component” but then I worry barry will just think the app is incomplete. I guess I can just put a little note there. Thank you regardless and congrats to those that have been invited for an interview ?

Last year we didn't use nursingCAS. The application was directly through Barry. Maybe it's changed since last year?

@MHARNPYesss probably but I’m still gonna here your advice and just submit my app!! I’m mostly done with everything except my essay and waiting for my references. I’ll try to finish my essay tonight before submission. GPA 3.84 GRE 154q 164v and 1 yr of experience in a lvl 1 medical/surgical ICU. Hoping for the best!

Hi!
So yes I did use NursingCAS to apply. I called and spoke to someone and basically where it’s incomplete you can attach a word document stating you’re taking your CCRN whenever or whatever it is that is pending. Also if you’re pending course work you can just submit enrollment verification under the prerequisites tab is what I was told ?
My GRE scores weren’t hot but I’m hoping they look at everything all together.
Thank you to everyone and good luck!??

Any advice or what to study?
I haven’t submitted yet (will submit Monday morning, hoping for a call back!!!). I have sat in on CRNA interviews before (FIUs) and all I can say is know your critical care. Other people on this thread say Barry is more personality based. If that’s the case there’s nothing you can do except be yourself and reheorifice answers to basic personality questions. But either way know your basics of critical care just in case ? Good luck and keep us updated.
Thank You @displayname
I am reviewing all the shocks, pressors, normal ranges for all PAP pressures, and basic definitions and treatment of the common diseases. I think I am okay with personality questions. I will keep you updated. I am just hoping for the best.
I am sure you will get a call back. I submitted my application on a Saturday and I got a call back on a Wednesday.

It sounds like you’ve got it covered then. I did see some questions about ventilator settings sometimes so go over your vent alerts if you can. Again, this is just what I saw in FIU and Barry could be completely different. Thank you for the kind words!

Hey @vcm
My Interview is not until end of July (I am so nervous). I was doing my research on the interview questions. Like what they are going to ask. There is a 25 question chemistry quiz, unless they changed it.
You get interviewed by 4 to 5 people, and they ask you clinical questions.
Does anybody know what kind of questions or the topic they ask??
