Applying to Barry University Nurse Anesthesia Program for May 2020 cohort!! My GPA 3.89, ACLS/BLS/CCRN certified, 4 years of medical ICU experience.

Studying to take the GRE in May!

I am so nervous to apply. I am not good at standardized test.

What are other ppl stats? Do you think I'll get an interview.

I had my interview with barry on 11/22/19. Anyone else in here that had an interview that day? If yes, have you heard back from them?

Thank you!

Hey! I did! At 14:00. I haven't heard anything yet. I hope they let us know something before Thanksgiving break though. I feel like Dr. Lee said something about notifying us early the following week, but don't quote me on this. I was too nervous to comprehend a lot of info that was thrown at me. lol. Let me know if you hear anything, and I'll do the same.

Hi all,

I am currently an ER nurse in a level one trauma center, just wondering if any one has heard of Barry accepting ER as critical care experience and getting into the program?

So far I know of one student who is ER and was accepted!

Thanks so much for the reply! I’m worried that my application will be overlooked since most require ICU. Barry doesn’t say it won’t accept, fingers crossed for when the time comes !

@bengel614 you will not be overlooked because of that. As long as you’re from a Level 1 Trauma Center you’re good. They actually verbally told me they love ER nurses! I too am an ER nurse and was accepted. 3 of my friends are currently in the program and came from my ER. One of the directors for the Orlando campus was an ER/flight nurse and loves ER peeps! I think it is actually beneficial and you’ll stand out!

Thank you so much! I was beginning to feel discouraged/ worried and thinking if I should transfer. But I love ER and do lots of critical care in my er and often run out of icu beds, it’s a busy high acuity high volume level one trauma center in Hollywood. If you don’t mind sharing advice and how long did it take you to get accepted?

@bengel614 I agree. ER nurses have to manage critical care patients for hours and sometimes days. My hospital use to hold ICU patients for over 24 hours. Make sure you mention what you just said in your interview... that you hold ICU patients. They wanna hear that. I recommend you call the school to check the status of your application. I got a call shortly after doing that. I turned in my application in June. Was told that they couldn’t interview me till my GRE was done. Took my GRE mid August. Didn’t hear back after that so I called. They called me 2 days later... around mid September.
