CRNA Admission Interview

Interview questions vary as much as the schools do. I interviewed at two different schools and both interviews were very different. One was filled with clinical scenarios and the other with more "touchy-feely" questions. Where are you applying? Once you know where you are applying, it will be much easier to get more definitive information on the particular interviews of interest.

Thanks for the reply. I am applying at all the texas schools because that is what several CRNA's told me i should do. I would really be interested in TCU, Baylor, and UT the most.

I have a couple of friends who interviewed at baylor, and were grilled for an all-day, clinical question type interview. knew a guy who interviewed at TCU and had much the same to say about that one. my interview was at kaiser, had one clinical question, and took 10 minutes. most questions were about me. good experience.

I had no clinical questions. My questions were along the lines of "Why do you want to be a CRNA?", "What kind of a student are you", and "What would you do if you were an SRNA and you were working with an anesthesiologist and you really didn't agree with their way of doing things?" Every school is different with the questions they ask-- prep for the clinical questions just in case.

i'm at tcu, they grilled me for about an hour with clinical questions, a lot of them were ccrn type questions, they also asked why i wanted to be a crna and what i need about the current events surounding the profession

My friend interviewed at UT-Houston. She said they illuminated her application paperwork on a wall behind her and asked her about grades from the past (she has 3 degrees). She said they were NOT friendly. I interviewed at TCU and they seemed to have made up their mind before we started. There were three women and one man. All the women were rude and giving me dirty looks and the man did most of the talking. His main objective was to get more money for the alumni association. He wanted to know if I would join and "give back." They acted like they were pissed that I applied elsewhere and got accepted elsewhere. Hopefully their CRNA program is nothing like the undergrad, I've worked with several nurses from their program and........

Just interviewed at TCU...there were no clinical questions, it was all getting to know you type stuff...I loved it there. I heard Baylor and TWU will grill you on clinical stuff. Baylor's interview will be a whole day long. I'm reviewing CCRN stuff for those interviews. Still waiting to hear from UT-Houston for an interview spot...haven't heard anything about their interview process.

Hey there, I also interviewed at TCU and TWU. I found the TCU interview to be the best experience. I could tell by the questions they asked me that they read my resume and essay. It was a very pleasant experience, and glad to say, I received mt acceptance yesturday. Tonetone77, please inform me on what you know about there program, and the "give back" money thing. Nothing like that was ever mentioned to me. Wesleyan's interview was clinical based, and I felt that they didn't really care to get to know me. They asked me questions, and I felt were trying to confuse me. My interview with Baylor is coming up, and it an all day thing. Good Luck to you guys.

I interviewed at TCU and they seemed to have made up their mind before we started. There were three women and one man. I had the opportunity to sit in on a few interviews this year with TCU. I am certain that all the interview panels were made up of 2 or 3 members at the most. None had 4. I also see in another thread where you are IN the program at FIU. If so, why would you have interviewed with any other program? In today's academic arena, it is no secret that most applicants interview at a number of different programs. I asked about the "where else did you interview" question and was told that it was to get a feel for the applicant's research into the profession and to see how flexible and mobile a candidate might be with regards to clinical placement. Overall, the handful of candidates who interviewed with my panel seemed to enjoy the experience and presented themselves in a very professional and positive way.

Can you tell me what your background was? I am a NICU nurse, and I have an interview at TWU, I am concerned that the questions will be adult based. Any advice you can give related to the TWU interview would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
