Specializes in Emergency/Trauma.

I was fortunate enough to land a job in an outpatient surgical center only 3 months after I graduated(this past December). It is only per diem and my hours have continually gone down since I started, so I have been looking for another job, albeit a bit lazily. So of course I just got a call from my dream hospital, they want me to do their online assessments and send in with my updated resume(reflecting current job), TOMORROW. The last person who looked at my resume(a colleague) said it sucked. So, I removed my unrelated past work experience, moved my volunteer work up, and took out the unnecessary details about my clinical rotations. I want to make sure it looks good when they get it tomorrow, and I am not very good at talking myself up. Here it is:

thanks for looking!

Specializes in Pedi.

If you are an experienced nurse, IMO, experience goes before education.

Specializes in Ambulatory Case Management, Clinic, Psychiatry.

My thoughts:

Take out "with all members;" it's implied. Take out "also" in "gladly accepts delegation." I don't know if I'd say "all situations," as this is a blanket statement and makes me question the validity of other statements. Also "healthcare team members" is implied. No need to put BLS in prof. summary.

I'd take out "tests" after "urinalysis." Also, consider adding other work exp. even if it doesn't relate to nursing-- it will show that you have a work history and these aren't your first few jobs.

Just my two cents ; )

Put experience before schools for sure.

For BSN, put "anticipated graduation date" instead of just the date.We aren't in December 2013 yet.

And after reading the post above mine, I would discourage you from putting the other job history that aren't related to nursing. It would be unnecessary junk. You need to keep it short and concise.
