Nurses Career Support

Published

Hi everyone,

I work in a subacute medicine part time and part time general medicine floor at present. I have an interview in critical care nursing in few days which where i always wanted to work. Can anyone please tell me what would be an ICU interview like? What would they mostly focus on. Would be specifically asking you about disease conditions and specific treatment?? your help will be much appreciated:) thanks

Since you don't have ICU experience, it would not be logical for the interviewer to expect you to have expertise in managing ICU patients. However, I would anticipate that the interviewer would be very interested in your A&P knowledge, lab values, etc. It's always OK to tell an interviewer "I haven't had an opportunity to work with this type of patient yet". They may also be interested in evidence of your self-education efforts, so be prepared to provide them with information about all the "extra efforts" you have made to improve your own skills and knowledge, even if it is subscribing and reading professional journals.

Best of luck to you on your career progression

thanks for your reply. I did go through my A&Ps and some other stuff as well. I hope it goes well. Its tom.. YIKES!!
