Hello everyone,
I am considering the possibility of moving to Florida. I would have to endorse my license first (I have an RN license from OH since May). I am a new grad and I speak Spanish which I think that would help me more in FL than in Ohio. Also, I am passionate about Critical Care and I know that some facilities have Internships for new graduates.
I wonder if there is someone out there who knows of any FL Critical Care Internship for new graduates and if in FL they still give a chance to ADN graduates (I have completed two semesters of the BSN completion so far).
Thank you in advance for the help

I am going to send you a PM.
Thank you for your PM, I really appreciate all the details and the time you have put in it. It was very useful! I wrote you the longest reply and since I am new to the website it will not let me send any private message back to you until I have posted 15 quality posts

Welcome to Florida! You should have no trouble finding a position, even as a new grad. The rumors of nursing shortages are quite true down here. Your Spanish is very useful all over the state, but especially in Central and South Florida, where it's practically a requirement. Most hospitals aren't too picky about ADN vs BSN, unless they are trying to keep their magnet status.
Remember we are the opposite of northern states, winter is our busy season, so don't let hospitals try to shorten your orientation because they are eager to get you on the floor. We just hired a new grad in our MICU and he got only 12 weeks orientation -- I am an experienced nurse (but new to ICU) and I got 10! I'm certain our short staffing played a part in this.
Good luck!
delphine22,
Thank you for your input. I am not in Florida yet, but I wanted to see if there are real possibilities for me to get hired as a new grad in ICU and having an ADN before I do the moving. Also, thank you for letting me know about some employers trying to shorten the orientation. I will keep that in mind :)

Hi @Aloma7, Can you please provide me with some info on this? I finish up my BSN on December this year, and I want to get into ICU, once I graduate. However, I know that's tough for a new grad, so I am also thinking about doing an internship. Gracias por tu ayuda!! :)
