Criminal Record - Texas. Do I even have a chance anymore ?

Published

Hello all. I am a first gen college student currently attending a community college and I am soon to be core complete. I have almost a 3.8 GPA, 89 HESI (which I was planning on retaking before I considered all of these things…) great student.

I was only 18 and got involved with a much older boyfriend and he was very abusive and never wanted me to succeed, really.

the first instance was November 2020, in which we got into an argument, he was the aggressor, and somehow he convinced the police that I was - pressing charges for crazy things. He pressed for burglary of habitation (got dropped before pre-trial diversion because I lived there… so stupid), assault family violence (despite me having to get multiple stitches in my face from him - this got dismissed), and criminal mischief misdemeanor (because he claimed I broke something’s in his house - dismissed also).

not too along after of course because I was dealing with so much I spiraled a bit and ended up getting myself public intoxication ( Dismissed with deferral adjudication)

all of these things , I was only 19 years old at the time. They were all dismissed and never convicted but after reading this I think I need to give up my nursing career and hopes.

I really had hopes of this dream but I think it’s a long lost memory now. People that had to find something else to do - what did you?

Just go for nursing. Just make sure to stay out of trouble moving forward. You might have to disclose to the BON when you are accepted to nursing school. Best place to find out the answer to your concerns is the Texas Board of Nursing.
