I plead guilty to the first charge while in jail infront of a judget o set bail, but there were no other court dates. I just want ot knoe if I will still be eligible for my licence wheni graduate. I am 20 now and will be 22 when i apply to take the NCLEX. Thanks SO much.

Hi. I'm not sure but maybe if you contacted your state's board of registration in nursing they can let you know. Good luck to you!!! :)

You really should contact the state board. Our school just did a background check on us this past semester for this very reason. If you have a criminal background, usually no, you can't go take the boards. There are exceptions. The board came to our school and gave an example and the person was in prison for 6 yrs for something...they let him take the boards because he really turned his life around. So if you have really turned your life around and can prove it, I don't see why they wouldn't approve you. Since you know 2 yrs in advance, now would be a good time to contact the boards and find out what you need to do.

Good luck!

I think what everyone has stated above is correct. I would be mostly concerned about the assault. That is something you really want to clear up. The BN will really want to know that you will not cause harm to your pts.

good luck to you

When I was in nursing school, we had to do a background check. It was quite extensive, I believe that this should help prepare you for the hurdles you may have to cross w/ your states BON. Good thinking ahead... get a tackle on the situation early. I know of one particular case in my class, the girl had 1 or 2 DWIs and everything turned out fine. She did have to show a lot of documentation though.

GOOD LUCK !!

ALL I CAN SAY IS BE HONEST WITH THE NURSING BOARD.... I HAVE A PREVIOUS MISDEMEANOR FOR SHOPLIFTING AT THE AGE OF 18 (NOW 26) AND I WAS VER FORTHCOMING WITH ALL THE FACTS AND I GOT MY LETTER TO TEST FROM THE STATE. ALL THEY WANT TO SEE IS THAT YOU ARE TRUTHFUL AND WILL OWN UP TO THE INCIDENT. GOOD LUCK TO YOU. I KNOW ITS HARD TO THINK ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO SIT FOR THE TEST BUT 9 TIMES OUT OF 10 YOU WILL BE APPROVED. CALL YOUR STATE BOARD FOR MORE INFO.
