Hello all!
I am just wrapping up my prerequisites to apply to the Creighton accelerated nursing program. I'm a single mom of a toddler and pretty nervous about the program. I keep hearing horror stories about the intensity of the program. I believe I am capable of doing the program but am looking for some advice and to hear personal experiences regarding the program. I'm not sure how much detail I should include in my essay or what they might want to see. So far it basically outlines my life choices and how they've lead to my wanting to become a nurse and some of the struggles I've faced being a single mom so far.
My previous degree is in Behavioral Science with a 3.6 gpa. However, my prerequisites combined are only at a 3.3 gpa. Is this good enough to be accepted?
There are some specifics I'd like to know regarding the program...
Approximately how much study time is needed on a daily basis outside of school?
What's a typical week look like in school as far as time spent in class/clinicals?
How much chemistry/algebra is involved?
What are labs like?
Any single moms out there that have gone through the program/any advice you would offer me?
Anyone use the Creighton day care program for their children and does it work well with the accelerated program hours?
Thanks so much for any advice or personal experiences shared with me! I am excited but very scared about getting accepted into the program and then what I will be facing if I am accepted. Good luck to all in your own pursuits as well!
