Would it be a bad idea to buy a really cheap pair of shoes from some place like Payless or Wal Mart and put in some quality inserts? Makes sense to me, but I speak from inexperience. What do you all think?

I guess there is really no reason why you can't but you get what you pay for when you buy crap shoes. If you don't have bad feet you might not regret it much but if you have problems as I do, that is not a route you want to go. Inserts are great but if you do not have support underneath them, they are not going to do the job they were made to do.

Have afriend who is a buyer for sporting goods at k-mart. He says pretty much all running shoes are made the same. Throw in some nice insoles in a $15 shoe and see. good luck.

Your feet will thank you, if you have good shoes..
Would a BMW mechanic buy cheap walmart tools? Or go for the good kind?
I am coming from experience, if you are not comfy you will have a hard day/night..
If you can get cheap shoes and a good insert to work for you go for it..
But here is my experience, I was wearing the Knock off crocs $10 bux or so they worked great until they banned them d/t the holes...
So I started wearing my $150 pair of Nike Shox.. My feet have still not forgiven me.. It caused me pulled tendons and stress fractures, d/t my feet not being used to them.. Mind you this has happend in the last 2 weeks..
So today I splurged on a $40 pair of Real Crocs without holes.. I have warn them around the house a bit to try and break them in before my shift tonight... I LOVE THEM

I personally like high quality shoes but so innersole/orthotics I have to recommend the superfeet line. I put them in my running shoes for regular walking around and they do make a difference even enhancing $150 shoes.
