I was supposed to renew by May 31st of 2008. I am a new nurse and I moved so I never got the paperwork. Now I am nervous! Am I screwed?!! I am calling the Division of Prof. Regulations first thing in the AM. Hopefully they are understanding. I am worried about fines/red tape. I have been off recently because I had a baby. I am supposed to go back to work in 2 weeks!

Relax- breath-- OK you might be able to still do a late renewal. Go to the states web site. Should be a link at the top of this board. If you are lucky you probably will only have to pay more $$ and at worse have to have more CE which you most likely can do online.

There is nothing to worry about, you will just have to pay additional money for not renewing it before the deadline.
As long as you have not been working after it expired, there is no issue for you.
Best of luck to you and your family with the new addition.

same thing happened to me....took time off with the baby, moved and forgot to change my address, never got the renew and didn't think about it....I don't think I had to pay extra for being late. Check your BON website or call.

RENEW NOW!
Recently advised that a classmate did not renew, is now being prosecuted for working for past 7 months without a license.
ALL I CAN SAY IS WHY?
I know it's ez to push these things aside, but impersonating a licensed nurse is a very serious offense. If you are working advise them, after you have gotten your paperwork and licensing straightned out with your BON-ASAP!

You should only have to pay a little extra for being late...and you probably want to pay for rush processing...you shouldn't need CEs. IL just required 20 CEs with the license starting in 2010. Just don't tell us you've been working with an expired one.
