CPNE Wound Checklist

Published

Specializes in Emergency Care, Pediatrics, Acute Care.

I made checklists for myself to practice for the skills lab stations for the CPNE. The idea is I will print them out in spreadsheet form and anyone can help me study, just go through it verbally and have them check each item off as I go, helping me to realize if I am overlooking anything. I am putting them on here, please let me know if you think I am missing anything, and of course feel free to use them if you like! Hopefully I have covered all the critical elements for each station.

I practiced the wound care station at home so much I felt very comfortable but when I got to the CPNE my hands were shaking so bad the gauze would not open up for me, so I just kept trying. The CE was very understanding of my nerves. As long as you correct your "mistakes" and you do it within the time frame there is some room for forgiveness. In retrospect I don't see how she kept from laughing. I had to have opened ( tried to open ) at least 5-6 gauzes before I just got fed up and somehow my getting mad about it made the next one open just perfectly. If you get nervous just remember, they know we are nervous and most try to help you relax as much as they can.

So how did you end up doing at the CPNE? Did you pass?
