I've not read many posts about the CPNE workshops in the past but I'm now within 2 classes of being able to apply so it's becoming a priority. Of the posts that I HAVE read most have to do with either Sherri Taylor (EC?) or another provider named Tina. I'd like some input from participants from either workshop about their experiences and recommendations. A Google search for CPNE workshops come up with thousands of hits and I don't have the time or the patience to research that many. One of the websites indicates that they provide or grade care plans. Are care plans required for CPNE? I've spent all of my study time in the content guides and have not done ONE care plan. Would now be an appropriate time to print off the CPNE study guide for early review? I know so little about CPNE that I don't know what questions to ask but I hope to test in mid to late Oct. I live in NW Missouri so any workshop is going to require travel. I need to make a decision in the next several weeks so that I can make reservations, travel arrangements and schedule time off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I went to the workshop in PA, but she offers different Options that include time on the Online Workshop and her careplanning site if you go to a hands on one. I have listed some of the options, again her website is http://www.necworkshop.com.Option 1 Hands On Workshop (most popular)

Option 2 Hands-on Workshop (most extensive and ecomonical)

When balance paid in full: Workshop Workbook with all mneumonics, 3 Day Hands-on Workshop in Wilkes-Barre, Pa, Lab skills videos, 10 weeks of online continued education and Care Planning ( 2 weeks prior to the physical 3 day Workshop and then 8 weeks after)

Does anyone know with this hands on workshop, does "skills education" meaning, prep for our lab skills? Does this include PCS training?
yes lab skills are provided via video and through theory before the workshop, demo's & critiqes of the labs are done while at the workshop...pcs practice is done at the workshop and then weekly online. A scenario is provided...and students have to complete the care plans, Fluid Manag page, all the charting and the eval... and I cut you no slack.... ask Connor and some of the others on this site.

Hi Tina!! Thank you for your reply! I am checking your site now, and I love that you are offering an online version too. I would absolutely wish I could do a hands-on workshop, but I live in Minnesota and it would be just too hard for me to travel & take time off from work.
I took Lynn's workshop in Dallas. IT WAS GREAT! She gives you 4 learning dvd's to take home with you so that the teaching in the workshop is fresh in your mind. She gives you practice and answers in the DVD's. She gives you a dvd with all the selected areas of care and demonstration with the critical elements pulled out for you to see.
In all her teaching material she gives you the page number where you can find it in the study guide. All of her information is accurate and has a reference page for it so that there is no way to question if it is right or wrong.
She gives you some great tips to be successful. You have to bring the skills bag to practice. Know up front that practice is optional. She doesn't require anyone to stay and practice. Most of my class bought her skills lab dvd to take home and practice with at home. I bought it and it was great but I stay for the practice to. She is excellent in explaining things to you. She talks to you so that you can understand exactly what is going on. I am a paramedic and some of this stuff was new to me. She is right about one thing, practicing in a group is not as productive as practicing at home. I was glad I purchased the lab skills dvd.
I choose Lynn becasue she was recommended by an Excelsior CE to me over the phone. I called and spoke with her and learned that since she has been teaching she has taught over 500 successful graduates.
Me and all 3 of my co workers were successful on the first try after attending her class.
The price was fair, she answered all our questions in the workshop and by email! I WOULD RECOMMEND HER TO EVERYONE!

I am going to Chancellors workshop in Indiana. I heard very good things about it. It's 5 full days with no more than 6 students to two instructors. I will be attending next week, there will be only 3 students including myself.
