CPNE Prep...What To Buy and What To Study?

Published

I'm currently about half way through my exams and doing well so far. I haven't been a speed demon, but I have a steady pace that's working for me, scoring A's and B's on my exams. With that being said, I'm looking for guidance on what I should be doing to get ready for my CPNE. Like everyone else I want to pass on my first try.

I'm a Paramedic that has never done care plans and never practiced "perfect sterile technique." I've heard of live CPNE prep workshops which I would be interested in attending, but I would also like to know if there are any good video series, or Youtube type videos to get a head start on my assessment and skills. Also, where can I go to learn care planning and documentation the Excelsior way?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I only used RobsCPNE.com and the Excelsior CPNE study guide to prepare for the CPNE, and passed 1st attempt.

As a paramedic, I did not have many "bad habits" to re-learn to do it the "Excelsior way" as some LVN's do. Robs site was the best $90 I spent. Some complain that the videos are old and he has outdated info, but he does update it every year with the changes. He responded to a few questions I had via e-mail and his nursing care plan help made a lot of stuff click for me (I participated in the online class, it is a pre-recorded version of that one that is on his website). His mnemonics are great and are a big reason I passed.

I have recommended Rob to several others and they have all found it useful.

Good to hear from another paramedic. What about testing sites? I have heard bad things about some, but also I have to consider the source.

Awesome, thanks! I haven't heard of RobsCPNE, but it sounds like something I would really benefit from. Thanks again! ....and congrats on passing on the first attempt! I hope I do as well!

I tested in Lubbock and loved it (of course I passed :)). No idea about any other one. I went there since it was closest tome and I could drive there. A friend of mine also tested there and recommended it to me.

Robs site was recommended to my by the same friend, She had done the Excelsior CPNE review and found it lacking. She used Robs stuff and really liked it.

Join the facebook groups that deal with CPNE there are at least 2 devoted to care planning and others to skills. If you search cpne several come up.
