The online care planning workshop through excelsior college is full. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm using robs cpne prep. I think the ncp video on his website is free.
I purchased his discs. Didn't realize he had something on his site. Thanu

I used Robs stuff and just passed this last weekend.
His mnemonics are awesome and his care plan stuff and documentation was very helpful. I could not have passed without it.
I did write him and tell him he really needs to redo his vids, there are a few errors in it (he has a "corrections to videos" in his e-book that clarifies them). Other than that I highly recommend it, and it really is not that expensive.
Congrats on passing the cpne! Did you only use Robs study guide?
Yup. Pretty much used Robs stuff and the CPNE study guide book. I did not attend any workshops or even use the stuff excelsior give you (the phone calls and care plan reviews).
Just remember, you need to do what makes you feel ready. Just because this worked for me does not mean it will work for others. You may or may not need more. My friend went to an Excelsior workshop, used Robs and the CPNE guidebook (along with the phone calls and care plan reviews) and she said she barely passed the CPNE (had to restest 3 skills and do 5 PCS and had to argue her last one to pass).
I have a background as a paramedic on an ambulance for 14 years, an Occupational Medicine Clinic for 4 years and working in an ER for over a year. I had not developed any "bad" habits yet and was able to learn things "the Excelsior way".
I think Robs stuff is an excellent resource (he shows you the things you must do to pass, nothing extra). Some people want more. I have heard that Sheri Taylor has an online workshop that is also very helpful to many. I did watch a few of her free vids on youtube just for confirmation of things (there are a ton of them on there from her).
Good luck with it and trust me it can be done.
Thanku! I have been studying for almost 3 months. I've used Robs guide, Sheri Taylor's online workshop, excelsiors flashcards, study guide, and their work book and video package...I'm still not ready:( There is so much to know for this exam!
I know exactly how you feel, trust me. I finished my FCCA in Oct '12, got my CPNE date at the end of December for Mar 22-25. I ended up rescheduling and paying the $250 fee for it because I was not ready at all. I had debated another reschedule but decided to just do it, fail or not.
I don't know if you will ever feel if your truly ready, I know I did not.
I was 99%confident in my skills (I had to retest IM/SQ because I was a touch off in my measurement and IV push due to forgetting to put my syringe (with no needle) in the sharps container. Both I blame on nerves), about 80% sure in my care plans/mnemonics and maybe 70% in my documentation.
I truthfully went into my first PCS figuring I would fail and just use it as a learning experience. I know not the right attitude, but I just had no idea what to expect with it. I was lucky that my first pt was not a real difficult one and passed. This gave me a little more confidence with my second one (had a 1 yr old for my pedi pt, was a lot easier than an adult I think).
By the 3rd day I really thought I could do it, and somehow I did (forgot my mnemonic for Drainage and Specimen collection on my last pt, but guessed correctly on the documentation).
I still am not sure how I did it, but I did so I guess I was ready (or lucky, but I will take that too). I can tell you that if you follow robs stuff and know your critical elements it can get you through.
Do you have a date and location for your CPNE yet?

Thanks for sharing this information, just the actual info I wanted to get from the post I recently asked.

Where do you get 'Rob's video'? Thanks!
Robscpne.com
Go to robscpne.com
CPNE video help with how to pass, tips tricks. areas of care 20 minute checks.
If your looking for the care plan video, it is on the main page under the tab "Care Plan Class". It is a recorded video that was from a live session he did in like January or February. He goes over a lot of stuff with how to do care plans. It is available for free (you just have to sign up with some web site to view it).
If you want his whole package deal (2 DVD's, 1 with AOC 1 with skills labs plus 2 e-books with his mnemonics, a lot more info on care palns and documentation and other info) you can order it from there also for $90 for both, or you can order just the AOC or Skills separately.
Best $90 I ever spent IMO.
