CPCC Fall 2015

Published

Hi! I'm applying for CPCC Fall 2015 in December and was wondering if there was anyone else? I'd be great to compare stats and status.

I'll start out. I'm a 32 yr old, mom of two, going back to school after 15 years. I started my pre-reqs over the summer semester of 2014. So far I've completed:

General Chemistry I

English 111

English 114

College Algebra

General Psychology

Anatomy and Physiology I (in progress)

Nurse Aide I course (in progress)

Spring 2015:

Anatomy and Physiology II

Microbiology

Humanities I

Sociology

Yoga (gotta have balance)

As far as the TEAS goes, I've only taken the practice test online and have a 93% in math, 83% in reading, 80% english, and a 45% (!!!) in science. I have a lot of studying to do before I take it on December 4th. I'm quite surprised with my scores, as I read a lot (a few books a week) and hate math. haha. I'm hoping a good breakfast and some studying will get me to the over all scores I need.

Once I have my NAI certification (hoping to test mid December) I'll be able to turn in my application.

I wonder, does anyone have any tips on how to make my application stand out? I would love to hand deliver it, or something of the like, just so they could put a face to a name. I am very driven and completely ready for the challenge of nursing school but I just don't know how to convey that on an application.

Hey! I was just wondering if you applied & if so if you had heard anything? I know that cpcc wants your math & reading TEAS & then your adjusted TEAS score (I think it is 74 or 75 minimum). So even though your science is lower the other higher scores should help. Im 37 & going back to school & some of those science questions were earth science which I took in 8th grade like 1000 years ago! Good luck!!!

*** I don't understand why I couldn't see any replies until after I posted! Congratulations!!

Hi Autumn,

I did apply and get accepted. Yes, the science portion is tricky only because it does cover a huge amount of related topics. If you do a somewhat decent job, it should not affect your score too much.

Have you taken your TEAS? Applied?

I did, now I'm just waiting on an answer. It's tak forever!!

Yay! I just got my email! I will see you guys at orientation!

Congrats thomas0831 !!!

I'm getting really excited to get the ball rolling. Are any of you starting to get supplies? I am looking into purchasing a stethoscope soon. I'll probably ask at orientation what is required but have any of you gotten any other things for school? I've heard a rolling backpack can be very useful.

Orientation cannot come soon enough! :D

Sorry, my name is Adrienne. I haven't purchased anything yet. Since orientation is so close, I will just wait for that. My coworker is in her first semester there so I will also ask her what she purchased. I probably won't get supplies till this summer though. Right now I'm 7 months pregnant and lazy. Lol.

I received my acceptance letter about two weeks ago. I am exited, now I'm wondering what I am going to do about bills lol

I have a stethoscope and a blood pressure cuff. I'll buy more supplies after I attend orientation in April.
