Hi! I'm applying for CPCC Fall 2015 in December and was wondering if there was anyone else? I'd be great to compare stats and status.
I'll start out. I'm a 32 yr old, mom of two, going back to school after 15 years. I started my pre-reqs over the summer semester of 2014. So far I've completed:
General Chemistry I
English 111
English 114
College Algebra
General Psychology
Anatomy and Physiology I (in progress)
Nurse Aide I course (in progress)
Spring 2015:
Anatomy and Physiology II
Microbiology
Humanities I
Sociology
Yoga (gotta have balance)
As far as the TEAS goes, I've only taken the practice test online and have a 93% in math, 83% in reading, 80% english, and a 45% (!!!) in science. I have a lot of studying to do before I take it on December 4th. I'm quite surprised with my scores, as I read a lot (a few books a week) and hate math. haha. I'm hoping a good breakfast and some studying will get me to the over all scores I need.
Once I have my NAI certification (hoping to test mid December) I'll be able to turn in my application.
I wonder, does anyone have any tips on how to make my application stand out? I would love to hand deliver it, or something of the like, just so they could put a face to a name. I am very driven and completely ready for the challenge of nursing school but I just don't know how to convey that on an application.

Hi! I applied in November and got my acceptance letter on Nov. 26 by email. They are doing rolling admissions this time, so get your application in before the herd.
Thats great! Congrats! I'm planning on applying mid January. I have all my ducks in a row except my NA I registry. I am scheduled to take the test on Jan 9th.
Just curious, did you have all your pre-reqs done and a high TEAS? I'm hoping I'm competitive enough to get in on the first try.
I scored 90.5 reading, 76.7 math and 78 over all. I'm already on the NA registry. When I applied I was enrolled in A&P 2. I am taking micro in spring 2015, and will most likely have to take Eng114 since I have 113 and they changed the required eng class.
How were your teas scores? Did you meet the minimum required scores?
Good luck on the NA exam, I tested for it twice. The second time at CPCC which felt much more professionally run than the first place I tested. (I failed the skills exam the first time.)
I wasn't sure if my TEAS scores were competitive enough. I was considering retaking it to see if I could go a little higher in the science and reading. Still in the air about that...
My TEAS scores were:

83.3 overall
88.1 reading
93.3 math
68.8 science
86.7 english
I have all the required pre-reqs done except Humanities, Micro, and A&P II, all of which I'm taking in the Spring. I'll be done with them all by the time nursing school would start in the Fall.
I'm VERY nervous about the NA exam. I am testing at CPCC (also took the NA course there) and hope that the familiarity of it will help with the nerves. I'm hoping for a pass on the first go round, but know it may not work out that way. Fingers crossed!!!
Those teas scores are awesome in my opinion. They don't look at science, it only factors into your overall score, which yours is really good.
I hope you are right. :)
Do you have any advice about the NA test? I'm not worried about the written, just the skills. I feel very confident in my skills but I do get a blank brain sometimes when I'm nervous.
Practice a lot before you go, and do it exactly like the green book says. Try not to be too nervous. Ask any questions before you start.
And yes the written part is super easy.
Thanks for the advice! I tested yesterday and passed both skills and written. :) Turning in my application next week! YAY!!
Hey Freej who do you have for micro? I'm taking it at central on T/Th. I applied for fall admission on the 14th, hope I hear back soon!
I got in! YAY!
