COVID 19 and Monitoring Programs

Published

Just curious if anyone’s monitoring program has addressed this?

Truthfully if I wasn’t forced into attending these meetings I might have had a different opinion of them. I doubt it because at best many seem more than a little goofy. It’s like forcing a kid to eat liver 3 times a week. I guess the kid would either learn to love liver or it would completely repulse him or her to the point they would rather go hungry than eat it again. That’s where I’m at with AA. I’d rather die drunk In a ditch than attend these things again.

There are good people in AA but they are overwhelmed by the masses of kooks that inhabit these things. The fact that this voodoo treatment is prescribed by medical professionals and the courts as some kind of treatment blows my mind

Exactly. They must recommend and require it because they've never attended a meeting, or because they know it's just a great punishment.

My "sponsor" told me yesterday she goes to 9 meetings a WEEK! What. The. Heck. That's an addiction in and of itself. And she's terrified that they will close AA due to COVID-19. It's evident that she's white knuckling it and I'm over here doing fine.

I reached out to my dept monitor because some testing sites around here have closed. I have one that I can go to as of now and only open until 4pm and super expensive, its double what I was paying at my usual site. I am allowed to do online AA meetings for now and I'm still required to test until further notice. In the event I test positive or have to self quarantine she said I need to provide documentation and we will ask the board for temporary modifications. I hope this all passes soon

Oh yeah a bunch of these folks replaced the barstool with a chair at an AA meeting. Hey whatever works for ya
