Cover letter advice for level 1 trauma center periop residency!!!

Published

Hi all, there is a perioperative residency open at a great level one trauma center in my state. Usually it seems like they prefer BSN prepared new graduates, so I want to make sure my resume and cover letter ROCK so they at least interview me (after all I start my RN-BSN program next winter anyway...)

Here is my current cover letter...

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am applying to the Operating Room R.N. residency position. My experience includes hundreds of hours of clinical work, years of customer service work, and leadership experience. I am a reliable and passionate team member with a strong work ethic, and I would make a great addition to any unit.

As someone who is consistently detail-oriented with a strong ability to multitask, I anticipate that the operating room is an environment that I will thrive in as a new nurse. This residency would give me the opportunity to learn from the highly experienced staff at (hospital) and become the best nurse I can be.

I will soon graduate from xxxxx Community College with an Associate's in Nursing with a 3.9 GPA and strong references from instructors. I plan to start my Bachelor's program next winter to further enhance my quality of care. I am a very quick learner and I will dedicate myself to learning all I can during my residency, and working hard to maintain the high standards of (xxxx) hospital.

I am very excited about the possibility to work on your team and I look forward to discussing how my qualifications can benefit your units. This is an amazing opportunity as a challenging environment such as the operating room will provide an excellent opportunity to utilize and develop my skills and would love to join your award winning organization. Thank you for your time and consideration; I look forward to meeting with you soon and discussing our future together.

Best Regards,

Blah blah

Student Nurse

Also... Is there a way to scope out the hiring manager's name? Some job listings will list the recruiters name and email but this job listing does not.

Thanks all!
